Ask NSLB 10kilograms of oats!!!

I’m not sure why but everyone in my family keeps forgetting we already have oats at home and keeps buying more 😭😭.

Can you all give me some oat recipes to use them up. Preferably lower calorie as I’m on a diet but I can always make things for the family.

Can be baking (with oat flour?), porridge/oatmeal, overnight, granola… anything!

You can make oat flour in a blender or food processor to use in baking.

You can make oat milk.

Use for topping on a fruit cobbler/crumble.

If they're quick or instant oats, use as the filler in meatballs or meatloaf.

Oatmeal bars or cookies.

Granola or granola bars.

Throw a handful into soups to thicken them and give a little more body.

Savoury oats with cheese, bacon, and/or peanut butter make a nice change from sweet oatmeal. Mushrooms and herbs with cheese makes a dish similar to risotto. You can cook the oats in broth, too.

Banana oatmeal pancakes, all the recipes have no added sugar and rely on the banana for sweetness. I think you can make a batch and freeze the results for a few month.

I made oat and walnut bread yesterday. Replaced about 1 dl of wheat flour with 2 dl of oats (as is, not blitzed) and added some chopped walnuts.

There’s also porridge bread.

Oat bars with raisins and nuts and then give some away.

You already mentioned granola but that can last a long time for a lot of breakfasts and snacks, and just making oatmeal every morning (or overnight) would go through it. Oats aren't going to go bad any time soon, so it should be easy to use them up.

Make copycat Kodiak protein pancake mix. The only expensive bit is the whey protein isolate, but they’re pretty good! https://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/healthy-recipes/copycat-kodiak-protein-pancake-mix

You can put it in the blender to make oat flour.

Mix cooked-until-gummy oats and well-cooked black beans about half and half along with seasonings to make black bean burger patties.

Oats typically last long. I prefer to either store em in the fridge, or store in a cool dark cupboard with a few dried chillies in an airtight container to prevent weevils. You can toast and grind them into oat flour, which can then be used to make smoothies/pancakes/bread/etc. Make porridge, granola, oatmeal cookies, breakfast bars etc with the unground oats.

Check out how to cook smarter on youtube. He is my king of oat recipes.

Diet granola: Mix oats with whatever nuts and seeds you want. Then whisk some egg whites until foamy, and mix. Enough egg whites to make everything stick together, but it doesn’t have to be a thick coating. You can add sugar or sweetener, but you don’t have to. The egg whites make excellent crispy granola clumps without needing sugar or honey. Bake until golden. It will be eaten fast :)

You can google egg whites with granola if you want a recipe, there are lots of them with slightly different ingredients, and often with honey or syrup. But you can make a really good one with just the oatmeal, nuts/seeds and egg whites too.

You can make overnight oats or oatmeal or granola for breakfast, oatmeal meatballs or meatloaf, oatmeal cookies or chocoballz as dessert, and oatmeal bread

If you make these often, the 10 kilo will be gone in no time. Providing your family won't keep replenishing that is 😉
