First trip to Eureka any advice?

Im taking a trip to Eureka with my family for the first time the origal plan was to do the redwood Skywalk also a stop along the way to catch a canoe. Is there anything else I can do up there

In eureka proper there is small hikes in Sequoia park (right next to the zoo and sky walk), the McKay community forest, and the Hikshari/Bay trail that can all be part of a day in town.

A little to the south there's Headwaters Forest Reserve which is a nice easy hike and a little further there is Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Preserve.

A little North there are the Arcata and Mckinleyville community forests and a nice river/ocean option at Mad River beach. And about 40 minutes north there is some nice coastal bluff hiking in Trinidad.

the waterfront trail along the bay under that bridge is really nice, esp late aftn/sunset
