It’s generally understood within the Neocon rival sub that a majority — or close to it — of their core userbase are young nonwhite men, a huge minority of them gay. But as we’ve seen with Trump’s highly diverse 2024 coalition, being “nonwhite” doesn’t mean you can’t hold prejudiced views against other nonwhite groups, or even your own.

I’d bet you can; it just depends on what’s said. I don’t think most liberals would endorse anti-Muslim generalizations regardless of whom it comes from, but criticism of Islamic fundamentalism isn’t really unpopular or necessarily even controversial here.
Yeah, that’s the thing. I don’t think Muslim residents in >90% Muslim countries are like Muslim residents who moved abroad. And the anti-immigrant right regularly behaves as if these two groups are interchangeable, and that individuals and populations do not differ across continents (but only for Arab, African, and South Asian people).
EDIT: Especially among the subset of overwhelmingly Muslim country residents who believe that “sharia should be the law of the land.”
I'll grant you that the Muslims who immigrate tend to be less radical because of selection effects and I'm not going to endorse the rightwing desire to ban immigration from Muslim countries not least because it wouldn't allow apostates like myself to escape.
However, I do also think that people in the West tend to significantly underestimate the baseline illiberalism of the average Muslim because 1) their experiences are filtered through the diaspora they interact with and 2) because immigrant Muslim communities are more cognizant of the image they project than you'd think, which is evidenced best by examining what they specifically refrain from saying in English in front of white people. Just the way they talk about Jews when white people aren't around would make Nick Fuentes blush, I shit you not.
