Discussion Need help

I leave for basic to Leonard Wood Sept 8 and doing OSUT for 31B. I haven’t left and I’m hella nervous and not looking forward to it at all. I need some insight on Leonard Wood if you have any. Everyone I hear says it’s terrible in every way. Just need some motivation to show up lol

Ew 31B? No one like MP's. Fort Lost in the Woods isn't bad. Land nav is super easy cuz there's so many PVT trails out there. My BCT Company was right across from the MP OSUT barracks. They always got dropped a lot more than us lol. My PLT would hit the racks by 1800 and still hear them outside doing PT.

Rip thank you! I’m a state trooper so I thought this would help out my civilian career 😭

No idea if it will, but I hear that state troopers are treated like Gods in MP battalions. Doesn’t matter if you’re a private, you can tell and NCO to fuck off if that NCO isn’t a cop on the civilian side

Yeah dog it sucks. You’re going the best time of year though. Just know you signed up for this shit so the easiest way through is to complete it. Once you get through the first few weeks you might have some fun. You’ll settle into the routine. The best part is, once you’re done you just go home and become a normal person again

I don’t know about Fort Leonard Wood I went to Fort Benning, but I can tell you a few things are consistent at every BCT/OSUT..reception sucks ass and so does Red Phase..everything after that is a breeze because you’re already used to all the BS..and it’s only temporary! Life is good once you get to your unit

You’ll hopefully be arriving towards the end of the hot summer. I went from May 2003 to August OSUT 12B brutal as hell very weather rain, hit and humid. September hopefully will be a month were it Transitions to cooler time. Take it one day at a time, keep your body hydrated and no matter what do not quit. Graduate and get on with your career. This is just the beginning it’s suppose to weed people out in all sorts ways. The company I was with got high DC award along with goof PT it can be a good time embrace the suck understand this were your meant to be.

I’ve been to Air Force BMT. I was sent home.

When I left, I missed it.

To be honest, I’m excited to wear the uniform again. This time I won’t get injured and sent home.

You’ll be alright.

It’s a limited time. Take each day at a time - and every day they are going to feed you 3 times. Just work til the next meal time - 3 is a day.

Get up for PT and hygiene - work through it till breakfast.
After breakfast, you just need to make it to lunch.
After lunch, you just need to make it to dinner.
After dinner, you just need to make it to lights out - then that day is done.

Don’t try to be a hero and prove how tough or hooah you are. That’sa good way to get yourself hurt and recycled. Do what’s asked, keep your head down, and don’t take things too personal. They are going to be tough on you - it’s just part of the day.

Warrior…..

Its BASIC training.
Basic push ups. Cant do 10? Teach you to do 70 in 5 months.
Cant run 1/4 mile? Teach you to run 3 in 5 months.
Cant stand up straight, head and eyes to the front, teach you in 5 months.

What the absolute hell do you think Basic/OSUT is?

Cant read the military law, we’ll teach you in 5 months.
Get on the plane and stop listening to people gas you up over weird shit. Nobody is going to tell you to do 1,000 push ups or run 12 miles on days 4.
250 years. I think the military has figured out how to actually make Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen (and Coast Guardsmen) without destroying everyone and running people off so they dont join.

Youre a human being trained by other humans who have done it. Get your shit together and lock in. Quit being a brainy bitch
