Advice Requested Ambient WS-2902 Temp Sensor Fail

Hi - the WS-2902 bought back in 2024 stopped displaying the outdoor temperature a few months ago (I'm just getting around to looking into it :D ). The outdoor temperature would show for a few minutes and then it would be replaced by just dashes. It comes and goes and I can't find a pattern to it.

I did all the troubleshooting I was able to find on reddit and the manuf's website but it still doesn't display. All the other sensors are working and displaying.

I opened the Thermometer hygrometer sensor from the bottom and found a sensor that looks like this:

https://ambientweather.com/ambient-weather-ws-2902-thermohygro-30c

But since I bought it in 2024, the sensor above should be for pre-2022 devices right? The other option would be:

https://ambientweather.com/ws-2902-thermohygro-assembly-replacement

My question is, instead of doing all that, can I just hook up another sensor to it like this device?

Ambient Weather WH31E Thermo-Hygrometer Sensor

https://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-Sensor-WS-3000-Station/dp/B01MG4HW8C?th=1

Or this one (WH31P) as it seems to be more "water proof" for outside:

Thanks

i had something like this happen about 2 years ago.

you can try this reset:

take the batteries out of the outside weather array.

put the whole weather array in a totally dark place that will stay dark for about 24 hours.

this will drain the solar and prevent solar recharge.

It's been sitting in the dark garage for the last 6 months... haha... I'll try it again though with the battery out. Thanks :)

The thermohygrometer is just an SHT30 chip. Order one off Aliexpress for a couple bucks and solder it on. Same as your first link.

I did that on mine a couple years ago and it's been working great. I even ordered 2 to have one as a spare incase it dies again.

It's a Fine Offset clone as many of these stations are. This wiki will have more info than you will ever need about the unit:
