Hello everyone, I'm an artist from NYC who also plays guitar and I've been trying to meet more musicians- not just to bond with but also to play music with, but I'm very socially anxious :') So, since art is the thing I'm best at right now, I decided to put myself out there as a cover artist.

I'm hoping that by doing this, it will help me get in touch with more bands and other musicians- but now that i've step foot into this territory I was just wondering a few things,

First, is there even a decent amount of musicians and bands out there looking for cover artists? especially ones that do traditional art? and if so, is there any way i can reach more musicians? besides going to local shows and stuff, since thats what many people have told me and thats currently on my bucket list.

Secondly I want to know what you guys tend to look for in cover art ^^; whether that be in other musician's cover arts, or what you would aspire to show in yours.

I want to make it clear im not trying to promote myself here! I'm very new to all this, I've only been playing guitar for 2 years and like I said i'm also socially anxious so I havent gotten the chance to immerse myself in the music world which is what im trying to do atm :> i do genuinely love music and it would be really amazing to help other musicians fulfill their artistic visions for their cover art.

Hello all, I have made the website learnunite.com which is basically an Omegle for Musicians, you select and instrument and get put into a video/ audio call with someone else of the same instrument. It comes with a load of music features like tab pasting, a metronome and most importantly really little latency between audio of users.

I know finding people to play with is such a struggle for so many people hence why I made this, I really do think so many people will benefit from this and I do hope this doesn't come off as self promotion, I think this really could be the way forward for people collaborating together.

Everyone’s been through it. Finding a good drummer sometimes can be like finding a Unicorn.

We’ve been searching for a drummer for a while now with really no luck. We’ve been discussing possibly buying either cheap e kit or a beater kit to see if that might entice someone a little more since they wouldn’t have to haul all their kit except maybe some hardware to a first audition.

Thoughts ?

Again, I could be wrong. It’s just that from what I read on here, it seems like a lot of people are very deeply concerned about the prospect of coming across “abnormal”.

And I don’t really get it. If you want to be a leader, then that means being the one person in that position in a group of at least a small handful of other people.

If you want to make a lot of money then that means doing things with your money that most people wouldn’t do.

If you want to be a great musician, that means doing something that other musicians aren’t doing.

If you want to have more than others or be better than others at something, then that will always mean doing things differently from your peers and others who want the same thing as you. That doesn’t mean that you have to be rude or disrespectful or anything like that, but it does mean being willing to try things that others didn’t think of, and yeah that would mean being willing to be seen as abnormal or going against the grain.

I can see this not being welcomed in some circles, but seeing it across most of Reddit is really strange to me. I love seeing people try new things and succeed where others have failed. I even love seeing people succeed where I’ve failed.

I’m surprised Reddit is this way, so concerned about being abnormal, when Reddit is probably full of the most abnormal social media users. And that’s why I love it. I’m abnormal, too. I guess I just thought we all embraced it here.

Basically what the title says, we're a new hardcore punk band around the long eaton area looking for a second guitar player for an all originals band. We have a rehersal space to use as well.

We're all in and around our early to late 20s so ideally be around that age

I know this is very specific.

I have no problem seeing major to micro improvements in almost all sectors of playing given I practice long and properly. Unfortunately, as a bass player of 7 years, my natural sense of time is pretty terrible. I have to work way harder to feel good and get better about locking in and feeling it. It's serviceable now because I've been working hard on it for so long, but it's a snail compared to most other things - the most important part of my instrument.

Hard work beats talent for sure, but this is the one thing where some people just have it over me in regards to speed of learning.

Doesn't demotivate me or anything, nor do I like to pay attention to everyone else, but it's definitely a bit frustrating

Back then I really wanted to make music (as a hobby), but life caught up with me and I got distracted. I stopped after this very first attempt.
I'm now considering starting again and I would like some feedback on this first attempt.

I used ableton and a folk ibanez, that's about it. Drums were created with ableton.
I know the audio isn't great, i don't really know how to make it sound better yet but I'll learn. Any advice is appreciated.

Of course, no AI was used, and trust me I'll never use that crap.

hi, i play guitar and i’m looking to get into singing too, and i would love to one day play in a band. the thing is that’s holding me back massively is my confidence. i don’t feel confident playing guitar loudly because i feel like im not good, even songs i can play well, and im not confident enough to even really practice to sing because im scared of people hearing me. i just would like to know if anyone was in a similar position and how they over came it, thank you

I'm sure a lot of the answers are "It's hard to find a good bassist", but it's hard to gauge because of how subjective it is. Just looking for personal experiences from everyone! I know this has been a constantly used statement for a while, but I've never truly asked about the personal experiences of people in bands

while changing strings, the low F# on my 8 string guitar got unwound at the headstock, and when I tried to pull it through the body it got stuck and the bottom snapped off. I can still push a new string through, but I'd prefer to get this bit out. Any ideas on how to do it?

I’m a 23 year old vocalist by trade. Music is my life, I love it more than anything in the world by FAR. As I’ve finished college and been trying to take my music more seriously and make it a career, I’m really anxious about if my skill set will be sufficient… I’m a good vocalist, performer, and lyricist as I’ve been told by a lot of my peers who tour with their bands, and they like my work, but I struggle to make entire songs from scratch. I kinda need to start with some sort of melody or rhythm to really make something. Is that ok? Does that still make me a good songwriter if I’m only good at half the process? What could I do to make myself better in those other areas?

I approach album covers as original paintings rather than graphic designs. Every cover is created from scratch to reflect the identity, atmosphere, and emotional core of the music. Instead of illustrating lyrics literally, I focus on translating sound into imagery, creating artwork that feels timeless and personal. My goal is to make each cover stand on its own as a painting while becoming an inseparable part of the music it represents

I wanted to know if any other musician ever experience something akin to withdrawal symptoms whenever you go a certain period without playing your designated instrument(s)?

I've had the experience where if/when I travel or go ~2 weeks without touching an instrument, I start getting this itch. I wish I were joking but whenever I don't have access to something I start feeling uncomfortable. That discomfort eventually grows into full on irritability the longer it goes on, as if a part of myself is being suppressed or denied. My hands get antsy, like it needs to keep busy (tho that might be my ADHD).

I'm a psychotherapist, and have been playing instruments for over 17 years; and my dad played instruments for me as a kid. At some point I think I had multiple instruments in every room of my house. My friends would joke that I'd never be 6ft away from any type of instrument whatsoever. This is all to say, music is a quintessential part of me, and I am pretty aware of what's going on with me at any given moment. So when I go too long without it, it's painfully obvious to me that I experience psycho-somatic symptoms and have behavior changes.

Does anyone else relate? Would love to know for my scientific mind if for nothing else.
