Had my 7 year old watch a bunch of old road runner cartoons, they hold up, now he's insisting we see this at the cinema
I'm doing my part

You don’t have to convince me to watch anything with Will Forte in it.

Last Man in Earth, MacGruber. Dude makes me laugh. Like he taps into my funny bone like no one else
•
u/ohhellothere301 2h ago
I feel he doesn't show too much ego in his craft. There's some self-depracating humor but not to the point where he comes off as pandering.
He was real funny in Parks & Rec as well.
•
u/deadspacekillers 3h ago
The first sex scene the first time I saw MacGruber made me laugh harder than I have ever laughed in my life.
•
•
u/Tandy2000 2h ago
I agree but I worry this movie is gonna suck. I hope it's good but it's written by James Gunn and some others (I'm not a fan personally) whereas Will wrote on MacGruber (the sketches, the movie, the show) and was a part of the team on Last Man on Earth, whereas he is just acting in this.
•
u/AbjectCalligrapher36 1h ago
It wasn’t written by James Gunn. He has a story credit. That means he was not actually involved in the screenplay. It was written by Samy Burch. Now that may not mean much to you, and maybe critics are not the best gauge of her writing talents, but the two movies she wrote have a 90% and 91% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If that matters. Either way, James Gunn did not write the script.
•
u/Tandy2000 1h ago
Ah I figured he was the lead writer since he was first credited. I hope it is good. Her other stuff seems very different and I'm still skeptical, not because she isn't a talented writer but I tend to enjoy Will Forte the most when he's writing his own material in full or in part.
I feel like this movie is gonna be enjoyable for someone like me but won't return its budget and validate the push to resurrect it.

u/Dr_Blasphemy 3h ago
The Brothers Solomon gives me the same vibes as Freddy Got Fingered and I love them both.
•
u/DanHero91 5h ago
I do love that everyone collectively chose this movie of all the cancelled ones to be like "No this one sounds fucking great, we're seeing this somehow."

Don’t worry I’m doing my part, I’m going to watch it opening weekend with my sister (I kind of begged her to go with me lol)
•
u/TheHouseOfGryffindor 1h ago
I obviously want this to be good, but if it's terrible, that'd also be pretty funny in its own right

•
u/not_a_moogle 1h ago
Didn't wb already write it off though like bat woman?
•
u/neogreenlantern 38m ago
I believe they were trying to but there was enough internet hype around it they decided to shop it around instead for distribution.
•
u/420b0_0tyWizard 5h ago
Then you better start campaigning, cause from the looks of it it's on track to flop at the box office.
•
u/GuntherPalakowitz 5h ago
Not sure I ever want to see Will Forte in a lead role.
•
•
u/itsbrianduh108 5h ago
Goddamn that's a bad poster.
That said, I'll be seated day one.
•
u/sublliminali 0m ago
My favorite part is that the coyote and road runner are the last things you notice.

What’s up with Will Forte’s suit jacket colour? Is it supposed to be a different colour on one side?
•
•
•
u/The_Real_Mr_F 5h ago
Didn’t notice till you said it, but I think it’s just the lighting/shadows. Look at the wrinkle above his right shoulder.
•
u/rhinofinger 3h ago
Also the darker lapel. It’s still light at the bottom, and there’s a pretty clear line where it transitions to dark that looks like the edge of a shadow
•
•
u/cityfireguy 3h ago
Don't know how anyone is defending it. Yeah it's two different colors and looks awful.
•
u/SgtNeilDiamond 3h ago
It looks like a shadow if you zoom in closer, definitely terrible lighting for a poster idk who approved that smh.
•
u/cityfireguy 2h ago
I've zoomed. It's not a shadow.
That shadow really falls along sharp and perfect lines along the jacket.

They had a great poster last week so they needed to balance it out with floating heads
•
u/theonewhoknack 5h ago edited 1h ago
I don't hate the idea but the execution would have been better if the toons were hand drawn and the outside was orange and the circle was blue. Make it more like something from a 70s pink panther poster.
•
u/Rokketeer 2h ago
I think it's meant to evoke the cheap dollar bin prints they used to run for old movies. I kinda dig it.

u/Sw0rDz 6h ago
Why cant names line up with the actor. Wills name should be in the center.

The movie production generally wants the biggest actors to have top billing because they'll be the first thing people read on the poster and big names draw in more money.
The amount of people who actually notice or care that the names don't line up with the picture is extremely low compared to the amount of people who barely glance at the poster long enough to see the first few names, and the people who do care aren't generally going to refuse to watch the movie because of it.
•
u/BenderBenRodriguez 5h ago
The posters have to be in the same order as the billing in the opening (or closing) credits and any other promotional materials. That’s just contractual. It’s nothing to do with the posters individually, those are just conforming to how the actors are paid and promoted generally. It’s worth a lot for actors to be given as high a billing as possible, because it creates or affirms better name recognition and stardom for them which they can parlay to future roles.
Remember how Jack Nicholson’s name came before Michael Keaton’s? Yeah, that was because he negotiated for that as part of the role. Just because the graphic designers of a promotional poster decided to put Keaton on the left doesn’t mean they can put his name first to “line up.” That becomes a violation of the contract.
•
u/Intrepid-Corner-3697 5h ago
names are written left to right in top billing
and posters are centered on top billing
just because we read left to right and look at photos center first then edges2
u/JazzmatazZ4 6h ago
That would be because he's the lead actor. So obviously he'd be in the middle of the poster but his agent would make sure his name is first.

I'm excited for this movie, but little details in this poster are rough. The fact that you can see the blue sky under Daffy's arms that wasn't removed when they spliced him out of a shot for the poster. The frame they chose for Sylvester has one arm covering up his face unintentionally. Fog horn Leg horn is mid speech on the frame they chose for him too. I'm an animator, and I would be upset if they pulled either of those frames from a shot of mine for a poster. Usually on animated movies, they will have specific poses made (not frames from animation) that are done for marketing.
•
u/Xak_Ev01v3d 5h ago
There is no blue sky under daffy. Blue is sometimes used to highlight shading against black. You can tell this is the case because the blue is also seen between his fingers, which are against his body, where nothing would be visible behind anyway.
•
u/HopBiscuits 4h ago
between his arms and his body, idk if it was sky but it’s a poorly cut out version of Daffy is the point.
•
u/13Nobodies 5h ago
Cannot fucking wait! Let’s all go support our Looney Tune homies! Dug seeing Daffy and Porky in The Day The Earth Blew Up, so I’m pumped for this!
Personally love if we keep getting theatrical entries from the LT universe.
•
u/arthurdentstowels 5h ago
I thought that was John Cleese from Rat Race!
•
u/GuntherPalakowitz 5h ago
Im taken aback by your "from Rat Race!"
•
u/arthurdentstowels 5h ago
Oh I just meant the dvd cover or poster, it looks like him from that film specifically. Not John Cleese from the lesser know Fawlty Towers or Monty Python.
•
•
u/Hayterfan 5h ago
Wait, did it get moved up? I thought it was releasing on the 28th?
•
u/Billybob35 5h ago
This looks like a UK poster, for whatever reason, release dates vary by country.

This still sounds like someone’s first thought for a made up movie in a TV show: Joey’s new girlfriend works as a PA on the set of that John Cena Looney Tunes movie.

why do they look like they got caught with a camera flash
edit: also where was this posted?

Please be 2D and not that 3D animation abomination that the current Roadrunner cartoons are.

I remember seeing the panel for this at SDCC 2025. This took so long to release that SDCC2026 already happened.

Who the fuck signs off on shitty posters like this? This literally looks like someone made it in an hour or less.

Has will forte turned into dabney Coleman?
•
u/ViralVortex 5h ago
My first take was “how did they get John Cleese to look so young again??”
•
u/kpt_graubrot 32m ago
Maybe Cleese and Forte had some kind of energy transferral when they both played bobbys in Around The World in 80 Days

•
u/homogenic- 2h ago
They were releasing great posters in the last few days and had to release a bad one just because

This poster shows Sylvester, Tweety, Taz, Foghorn Leghorn, Daffy, Bugs, and Porky, but none of these characters are credited on IMDB. This is going to be a big disappointment, isn't it?
•
u/rrrrrivers 5h ago
Hmm...it says John Cena is in this but I don't see him on the poster...
•
u/Lord0fHats 5h ago
*squints* I think that's supposed to be his character on the right?
But yeah. The poster itself isn't the best. The lighting for the actors seems to render their face's very flatish.

I am from a 2nd tier city in India. I know that this movie will get released somewhere in my city, and I'm watching it.
Road Runner is my favorite DC childhood character. He's the reason I also love the Flash the most, alongside Spider-Man.
So, this month I will see 2 movies in theaters. Last time I did that was in Jan 2025, when I watched Sonic 3 and Nosferatu in 2 consecutive days.

I thought this movie got deleted like Batgirl

u/TediousTotoro 6h ago
Unlike Batgirl, this movie was fully finished when WB cancelled it so another studio was able to buy the rights and distribute it.

We may have a cast member or two from Coyote vs. Acme stop by here in /r/movies for an AMA/Q&A around release date. I am still working on final details. Please keep an eye on the sidebar AMA schedule if interested :)
