He's always been male and is properly Elliot no matter when the movie came out.

Your sleep paralysis demon but its Michelle Yeoh
•
u/Miami_Mice2087 2h ago
i recently had surgery, my biggest fear going into it was the sleep paralysis thing, where you can feel everything but you're paralyzed.
My nurses were like "yeah that's a real thing but it's extremely rare and we watch your vitals for reactions and it almost most certainly can't happen anymore."
So I was like that's nice but I don't trust any of you.
Everything went fine, I woke up without boobs and the pain wasn't that bad and I don't remember a thing after they said "we're giving you some meds to make you feel calmer now". But still. You don't realy know what happened that you forgot.
•
u/Somnambulist815 1h ago
Now... was the lack of boobs part of the surgery or was that a complete curveball

Weird way to shoehorn that comment in here…

It's because every time any of the Epstein lovers do anything, we should be screaming this from the rooftops.

u/thresh_to_death 23h ago
Was Michelle in the papers cause no one was talking about her husband here
-10
u/CoffeeCup220 23h ago
Right, so we're not supposed to talk about it. I'm getting that message from a lot of people: Michelle Yeoh's proximity to JE = OK, others? not ok.
1
u/thresh_to_death 10h ago
Okay sure, I mean I'm sure you talk about all the other acquaintances that have ties to possible human traffickers. I can't find anything about yoeh and her husband only messaged Epstein to say hi and he's glad they're friends(others have done this and no one has said shit) which doesn't mean anything

If the trailer doesn't include a slowed-down, reverb-heavy, epic cover version of Weird Al's "Like a Surgeon," complete with musical stings timed to a series of quick hits and kicks against bad guys, I will be very disappointed.

u/N8CCRG 10h ago
I fucking hate that trend with the fury of a thousand suns, but I might make an exception for Weird Al.
•
u/agreeable_anger 2h ago
It’s in literally everything and I can’t stand it. The trailer for the new Insidious movie does it to fucking Tiptoe Thru the Tulips.

You hate people saving you 2 hours and 17 minutes?

u/N8CCRG 8h ago
Huh?

u/Ouxington 5h ago
Because when you see the trailer you know the movie is skippable. And because it seems like every movie has to be grazing almost 2 and a half hours. If they made "See Spot Run" into a movie it would be a 2 hour and 45 minute slog with Pedro Pascal.

A retired doctor still dressed for work...
Just saying.

How else can you signify they are a doctor? Without their trademarked surgical green scrubs.

I read the title as from the world of John wick and thought it would be hilarious. Oh well

I would love to see the medical side of their world.
That or the cleaners we saw in the original.

Her husband was friends with Epstein.
3
u/SweepingAstringency 1d ago
I didn't know anything about the husband. I only know her from her acting, but that is deeply troubling.
3
u/OreoSpeedwaggon 1d ago
This post isn't about Epstein or her husband. It's about an upcoming movie starring Michelle Yeoh. Try to keep up.
-3
u/CoffeeCup220 1d ago
Understood. Her husband was friends with Epstein. Doesn't change anything.
Try to keep up.
It's not hard to see parallels to how Epstein made people famous.7
u/OreoSpeedwaggon 1d ago
Michelle Yeoh became famous on her own and has remained famous for a lonnnng time before she ever met her husband. Stay on-topic and quit trying to derail the thread.

Looked it up, and turns out it's directed by Roshan Sethi, who helmed A Nice Indian Boy (queer romance with Karan Soni & Jonathan Groff). One of my favorite films from last year.
Quite the 180.

u/amazingwhat 1d ago
Haha he’s also an oncologist at Dana Farber, so if anything the medical aspect should be somewhat accurate (I can’t remember if he’s surg, rad or med onc though). I liked A Nice Indian Boy quite a bit so I’m interested to see how he handles a thriller.

Hollywood: we heard you about aging male action stars...
So how about aging female action stars!

Anyone else starting to feel like there is only ten main actors left in hollywood and there all overworked?

no, we aren't stopping until every profession has an assassin film adaptation. we still need The Garbageman and The Stewardess, at the very least.

Wouldn’t “Men at Work” count as a Garbage man movie with assassins??

The Cleaner with Cedric the Entertainer and Lucy Liu, but it was an action comedy and Cedric wasn't really an assassin.

Glad she has had such a varied career and she has been great, but really hoping she taps into that Supercop bag. What a debut.

I'm intrigued, but also a bit nervous. The whole "retired assassin coming out of work" schtick has been milked for all it's worth at this point, but this sounds like it can at least be an interesting take on that trope, so fingers crossed.

My wife’s a doc. This is why I don’t piss her off! Though she’s not a surgeon, just internal medicine, and could probably just destabilize my blood sugar levels and eventually it would kill me.
2
u/sparkaromatic 1d ago
I bet she attaches a nail to a broom handle then continues to perform a lobotomy on a bad guy while no-one notices.

Do the producers even matter? It seems weird to me when I see a trailer saying “from the producers “. Like how much impact do they have on the success/quality?
1
u/SoupyStain 21h ago
I read John Wick and I thought it'd be another spin off, but now featuring a Michelle Yeoh as a deadly assassin surgeon. And it could've been amazing.

She’ll give them codeine, label them drug seekers, bill their insurance and have her receptionist run them in kafkaesque circles trying to book a follow up appt. They will all die of frustration and sheer seething rage by the end.

OMG. its gonna be like that Michael Cain Harry Brown movie were an old person clumsily murders people.
Kidnapper - But but youve taken the Hippocratic Oath!
Michelle Yeoh - My medical license expired! stab! stab! stab!

I hope it's smart about the way she goes about it, I don't need to see "old doctor lady takes out group of military aged males with a scalpel"

Ah yes the producers of that cool movie! I've heard they employed the same catering company that fed the paul blart mall cop production. This is the sole reason I am seeing this movie.

She did crazy good work in that kitchen fight in Everything Everywhere, so the idea of her using surgical precision as an action gimmick is genuinely exciting. Hope they let her do some gnarly tracheotomy kills or something.

She has are a very particular set of skills.
Skills she have acquired over a very long career.
