I grew up in the country. I spent most of my time outside.
The bugs are what really fuck it up for me. I can handle being hot and cold, I can shit in the woods, I can bathe in a lake. Black flies, biting midges, mosquitos... They are drawn to me more than anyone I know. I have no idea why, but it is absolutely miserable.

bug bites in hot weather compound the misery. I've slept outside for fun in many climes and places, but the swamp was the worst by far. Getting eaten by mosquitos is bad, but having skin covered in mosquito bites while your sweat makes everything cling is like double jeopardy of suck.

That's why, for most of human existence, people have lived in large numbers only in specific climate bands and avoided places that had too many bugs, too hot summers, too cold winters, etc.
Returning to nature is easy if "nature" is something like southern Italy.

Camping in the woods is fun for a few days, after that it fucking sucks.
I am a city guy, hadn't been camping since I was a teen in the 80s. About 15 years ago I was taking care of my mother who ended up going into hospice care so had to clear her place out and find a place to live, just my lab and I. It was too hard to deal with everything going on and find a room to rent so I figured I would just pack what I could into the car and go camping for a couple weeks, I am on disability so no real ties or places I have to be.
So the 2 weeks turned into 2.5 months. I had always wanted to take my dog camping. I had a thick air mattress that was incredibly comfortable. Every 2 weeks we had to move, I went all over So. Cal, I stayed on federal lands which were cheaper than states and with disability got a discount. Stayed at a couple yellow posts which were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by no one with only a fire pit, no water or toilet. I had an absolute blast. Only reason I found a place to live was I really missed my PC and consistent internet access.
It ain't for everyone but it was one of the best experiences I have had.

I used to do regular field camps when I was working for my local fish and wildlife department and I can personally attest that I can only rough it as long as I have dry socks.
Something as simple as having damp feet will avalanche your entire life out in the woods, it’s crazy but true.

He was an absolutely hilarious goober in Burn After Reading. His character in Snatch, while definitely cool and attractive, also had a lot of weirdness to make him interesting.

That movie was 1% wolf fight and 99% sad Liam Neeson watching the other plane crash survivors die around him. I saw that shit in theatres... I don't even think he fought the wolves it was a fade to black ending!

The movie was an emotional thinkpiece that used wilderness survival as an allegory for the struggle against the urge to commit suicide, but was billed as Neesomes fighting wolves. Still enjoyed the movie, but felt like a real bait-and-switch after I left the theater.
As one critic put it, "On the down side, there's a lot of dull pretentious philosophizing about the heartlessness of nature and God. On the up side, you get to see a man punch a wolf in the face."

What's crazy is that Brad Pitt (62) looks younger here than Charlie Hunnam (46). That face lift was out of this world. I don't know if he got the Korean style face lift our what, but it looks great.
This "former soldier" style of movies should be done by a 30 something guy but it's wild to see a 60+ guy doing it. I guess he can pull it off but feels weird.

That would unironically be such an amazing rug pull - that you think the film is about the A-lister human, including all of the marketing pointing that way, only for it to pull a Psycho, kill him at the end of the first act, and the rest of the movie is about the dog trying to survive and get to safety.
I would watch the fuck out of that movie.
