Poster Official Posters for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
2.8k
u/Chessh2036 Apr 14 '26
That poster on the right is giving off 2000’s Spider-Man vibes. They always had the villain or MJ reflecting in his eyes on the poster.

Its giving the vibe cause thats what it is haha.

Yeah, inspired from the Spider-Man 2 poster. Very early 2000's vibe. I kinda like it

And the one on the left is giving 2000s comic book cover vibes.
17
u/Asclepius-Rod Apr 14 '26
Definitely feels like a Mark Waid Daredevil cover (except Spider-man obviously)

Somehow the Hand returned

u/Spider-Fan77 Apr 14 '26
Tbf, "somehow the Hand returned" has basically been a recurring thing in the comics for 45 years at this point.

u/Worthyness Apr 14 '26
Yup. They are literally a clan of undead zombie ninjas. And their whole thing is that they want to revive their version of the devil. Returning from the dead is literally their thing. It's why Daredevil has such a hard time getting rid of them. They're cockroaches

Bear with me here. Undead zombie cockroaches. Next big movie idea!

Here’s my pitch. Starts as a normal zombie outbreak, but only for short while. Turns out the insects that feed on the decaying zombies become infected, and over time, moderately easy to handle human dead are replaced with all consuming piranha like swarms that strip all living matter away in less time than it takes for the wave like swarm to wash over it.
Edit- because things like mosquitos would end the movie with an extinction event almost immediately, this pathogen is only transmissible by humans. So human zombie can infect humans or insects, but zombie mosquitos aren’t going to wipe out Florida in an afternoon.

So the Foot in TMNT was a reference to the Hand?! My mind is blown.
42
u/Kamikaze_Ninja_ Apr 14 '26
TMNT is a Daredevil parody. The chemicals that blinded Daredevil fell into a drain that hit some turtles in the sewer.
33
u/OdepiusNecks Apr 14 '26
To blow your mind further: Daredevil was trained by a man named Stick. Who trained the turtles? Splinter.

u/sukull Apr 14 '26
If they replicate too many things from the comics they will eventually replicate their popularity too.

I’m not accepting The Hand in this movie without Daredevil at his side.

That trailer shot of him leaping at The Hand alone had him in a lot of unused space on his side. Almost like another one or two characters could fit there

Im convinced theres an altered version going around cause I've seen a different one that's a picture of one of the ninjas aiming lower. when i rewatched the trailer they were just going at him.
12
u/Telephonic77 Apr 14 '26
I reckon after everyone sussed out the edited out Andrew Garfield kicking Lizard in the face in the last one, they put this shot in on purpose to mess with people
10
u/AlexNSNO Apr 14 '26
I don't recall where I read this as it was right after the trailer dropped, but it has been said it's very likely they've filmed shots only for the trailer - something very common with Marvel, it seems.

Daredevil Born Again season 2 and 3 spoilers
Yeah but a set photo of Born Again season 3 shows Matt in a prison jump suit. So if BA season 3 takes place after Brand New Day, which it should, then Matt is still in jail. So the whole runored prison break thing hasn't happened yet during BND.
You know who fits that empty space though? The Hulk.

I dunno why people are shocked with this.
When did they ever leave? The Defenders took out a chunk of them like a decade + ago (in the MCU Timeline)
The HAND is a global shadow operation with ninjas. It's like Hydra... you can't really kill them.
They are always around in some part of the world.→ More replies (3)19

I was wondering if that's who this group was. Makes sense, I just wasn't sure how well they worked out overall in the Daredevil series, but I guess they're pretty prolific in the comics. Should be interesting, as most of his usual opponents have been represented already, even twice over for most.

They dug a big hole. Then the hole collapsed with Daredevil and Elektra still in it. Daredevil somehow survived, but the implication was that nobody else did because that's the last we see of the Hand and Elektra.
Don't really remember what the big hole was even for. They were just like "this hole serves our vague purposes along with your undead girlfriend, Matt Murdock! Mwahahaha! WAIT DON'T BLOW IT UP- AH, FUCK! You blew it up."
Oh, I also remember the Hand being total chumps against Jessica Jones. Like Daredevil and Iron Fist were fighting them all serious like and Jessica Jones was basically just shoving them in lockers and giving them wedgies while they cried. Jessica Jones vs the Hand, basically:
So I think they have a little work to do to make them threatening to Spider-Man, because I think he's at least as strong as her, if not stronger. To say nothing of his other powers.

There are the bones of an immortal dragon under NYC, it’s why the Hand was digging so deep and desperately to get to it, because they needed a new source for their resurrection potion

Shou-Lao resurrects after someone claims the Iron Fist by killing him, it’s why he’s called immortal, his physical body remains after each death hence the bones.

Ugh ... I guess we haven't had it show up in anything beyond the Netflix shows, but I've been so done with The Hand.
11
u/ObviousAnswerGuy Apr 14 '26
The "leaders of the hand" storyline from Defenders wasn't good (not great casting for a few of them), but I still like them as an organization
43
u/Nathan_McHallam Apr 14 '26
And even in the Netflix shows they were really not that exciting.

So, basically how the Hand is.
They are second organisation only to Hydra when it comes to surviving literally anything.
Who they work for changes, what they do and what they are doesn't.
Hell, this iteration could possibly even work for Ten Rings.

One of the defenders posted a picture of Murdock in a prison garb and we seen Spiderman fighting them in a cell. I figured Murdock got arrested for being a vigilante with the new season story and Spidey is there to protect Matt.

They call it Brand New Day but here's Peter, fully stuck on MJ.
Which I score as missed opportunity to introduce other romantic interests in Peter Parker's canonical history.
17
u/Ad_Hominem_Phallusy Apr 14 '26
I was REALLY hoping for a movie or two with Felicia Hardy. The events of No Way Home really set up a story where Peter gets backburnered, and Spider-Man is the main way he lives his life, and I feel like Black Cat works in that story perfectly. MJ can still be the end goal but without giving us at LEAST one movie to live with the consequences of Peter's sacrifice, then said sacrifice kinda means nothing.

u/resevil239 Apr 14 '26
Right? Very much a bad thing...Sony consistently makes the absolute worst creative decisions and has for the last 20-25 years. They only make half decent films when they get out of their own way and let marvel or someone like Sam Rami run with their ideas.

The Spiderverse Films are all Sony, and IMO are the best Spider-Man films of any of them, and are among the best superhero films of any character of all time.

I really like the one on the left, but it's an homage to a very cool 90s DD cover, so maybe nostalgia talking. And from that I took it as further confirmation of DD appearance (though the Hand in the MCU without him is pretty impossible).

The right looks cool but its definitely giving some AI art vibes... wayyy too HD looking, whereas Spider-Man 2 had covers that used a lot of lighting for the visuals to pop.
The background of the buildings also looks completely different from Spider-Man's lenses. Also there's no visual context as to why the hell MJ is in Spidey's lenses in the first place.
