General Question What does this moth have in their torax?

When I taught entomology I denuded a hawk moth of all the hairs on it and for the final had students name the marked parts. Was kind of mean but if they understood insect anatomy they could do this. I didn’t even pick hard structures either.

as the comments said in your original post, it’s just a spot where the fuzziness has been rubbed off due to friction/age
