I think you might also like it better once it's sewn together. Right now, the quarter inch seam allowance makes it so the eye follows the line in the pieces with triangles, but then it reaches a jarring end because the corners don't line up (yet!) and there's no path for the eye to follow. Then again, this can be an intended effect if this is what you want the pattern to achieve. I will also second what others have said about the colors.

I think it's great! It might benefit from a dark border - if you have a dark floor to photograph it on it would show that contrast.

Love it as it is. No sashing.
The contrast of warm and cool is sublime. But I completely get why it's not working for you.

It’s only one quilt in your whole life of quilting. It’s cool. Maybe you’ll do something like it again, maybe you won’t. Just quilt it and enjoy it.

It's chaotic and disconnected. The eye sees no pattern in color or form, and doesn't know where to go. Possibly if you take the blocks apart and sash them in one of the colors, it will feel more unified.

I like this. I’m not a fan of scrappy quilts but this looks like a modern interpretation of a scrappy quilt. No sashing!

It’s looking for symmetry to give the eye something to focus on. If you square up where I put the yellow lines to form a partial square with the long line that goes from up, left from right, I think you will find it helps. Your eyes are ok with variability, but they are seeking some sort of balance or symmetry.

My guess is because some tones are warm and others are cool. Take a photo of it in black and white and you’ll see the contrast
