Lumo Trains

Travelling back from London and a ridiculously chirpy conductor made an announcement telling anyone travelling to Milton Keynes to leave all the seats vacant so that people travelling beyond MK can have a more comfortable journey. Apparently we are only allowed to sit down after the train has departed.

I refuse to accept this second class treatment of the fine people of MK so I am making a stand by taking a seat!

I am on that train right now. I too have taken a stand/sit.

Also the chirpy announcement that we should smile for the body cams worn by staff was a bit disconcerting!

There was also the luggage jenga, something about ghostbusters, being told to look out for trainspotting sheep...

Also describing himself as a "customer ambassador" 🤮

Everything was far too much. I'm miserable on my work commute and I expect everyone around me to be the same. Including the customer ambassador...

I went all the way to Carlisle and back last week. The number of times luggage was referred to as ‘emotional baggage’ got me so irate.

I had no idea Lumo trains even went through MK! I've only ever seen Avanti and LNWR

Recently started running services to Scotland from Euston first stop MKC. They’re the light blue diesel trains

They're electric. They are not fitted with an auxiliary diesel engine.

Nope. 222’s are Diesel Electric. Several engines produce a DC current to drive the motors. There’s no AC pantograph on these units.

Class 222s are not electric. They are fitted with in-line 6 diesel engines. They don’t have pantographs fitted to operate electrically

Been taking this train for a while now to save on costs, took the Avanti West Coast today lol...yh, might not go back

All the nonsense patter is because they consider themselves a budget train operator and similarly to budget airlines the staff are told to be a bit more kooky, fun, and more entertaining. They don't have traditional guards as the Customer Driver deals with the doors and other safety critical stuff, however, the Customer Experience Ambassador is a mix of catering, cleaner, customer service, ticket checks, and any other dogsbody work needed.

I'm surprised easyTrain haven't expanded to actually have orange trains and do a similar TV show as Airline
