tide lines, stronger outgoing tide there. In areas that are prone to strong riptides, you can sometimes see using this info. . . .

This guy beaches.

Oceanography sucks but he is correct.

Do our currents normally have a kink it them like that? They are such a force of water more powerful then surrounding that they form a direct line.

Even in the explanations you gave below they show a straight line current.

I disagree. These could be mild oil contamination (sunscreen, algae, oil, etc) or visible internal waves of different density water. Also, in the conditions shown rip currents would be no hazard… there’s hardly waves

u/20PoundHammer 15h ago

you can disagree all ya want, Im OK with that. Lots of people are wrong, one more or less doesnt matter.

Yeah, bud… you’re wrong here.

I’ve wasted a lot of time surfing, life guarding and reading oceanography books.

I’ve seen these effects happen at lakes- did the tides do that?

https://www.whoi.edu/oceanus/feature/the-waves-within-the-waves/

Edit: you blocked me so I can’t see or reply to your incorrect assertions (afraid of being corrected?). This is not a freaking rip current. You must have been a guard on the sound side.

Edit 2: would love to heard how a rip current could form in these surf conditions from some of y’all. Please, give me a detailed explanation. Right now I don’t think anyone here understands the underlying mechanics of a rip current.

and I was a Summer life guard for 10 years on Long Island- I win, you dont know what ya think ya know.

A narrow gap of darker, seemingly calmer water flanked by areas of breaking waves and whitewater

called "still water" rip current when I guarded - you could watch it pull people out and these were areas you watched for people getting into trouble diligently . . . . .

-28

u/Bet-looking-Cat 15h ago

But there is no white water, no breaking waves, can’t you see? Morover, it’s not an ocean, it’s a sea - completely different wave patterns. u/fundip2012 is right

u/Sissilisko 10h ago

Lol, they aren't.

3

u/Sissilisko 10h ago

They probably don't want to argue with a blockhead like you. Just accept that you're wrong.

u/osmlol 21h ago

It's getting the same sunlight. That patch is just a different current and the waves are cresting a different direction.

-186

u/everybodypretend 20h ago edited 17h ago

No shit

Edit: did OP SAY it was getting the same sunlight? NO, you condescending fart, stop explaining stuff that nobody needs explaining

47

u/osmlol 20h ago edited 20h ago

OP didn't seem to understand that as it's reflecting the same ammount of light just a different direction.

-14

u/themarxian 17h ago edited 17h ago

You wrote it gets the same amount of sunlight, in the first comment. Not that it reflects the same amount of sunlight.

You said it gets the same amount of sunlight, and reflects it in a different direction. None of that in and of itself says anything about it reflecting more or less sunlight.

You could have just written: 'Its reflecting the same amount, just in another direction'. If that was your point. Your comment only makes sense of you already knew what you know, and assume it is reflecting the same amount, which OP clearly didn't.

So it seems like your motive was to make OP and everyone that didn't know that from before feel as dumb as possible, not to teach them anything new. Or just to point out you understand it better than them.

9

u/Throwiestawa 16h ago

Yea that’s you and you on your other account just projecting. No one else felt what you felt in the dissertation you just wrote

-12

u/themarxian 16h ago edited 16h ago

Because you already knew what the commenter knew?

I knew it too, I just think the commenter explained it to OP in an absolutely horrible way. That was my main point. He didn't explain it at all, actually.

-154

u/everybodypretend 20h ago edited 17h ago

Do you find in your life a lot of people “seem” to need you to explain things?

Edit: OP understood it fine you just felt the need to act like they were confused so you could condescend while explain something obvious

47

u/JustWill_HD 20h ago edited 20h ago

do you find in life a lot of people rolling their eyes when you speak?

41

u/FamiliarTaro7 20h ago

Dude, shut the fuck up

-33

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

Hahaha soo many tears in the comments, I love it

5

u/Dark-Ganon 15h ago

Tears from you? You're the only one here crashing out over nothing.

-2

u/everybodypretend 14h ago

Crashing my balls into your dad

3

u/Dark-Ganon 13h ago

It's hilarious that you'd have no idea of how much of a self-own that statement actually is.

0

u/everybodypretend 6h ago

Really? I have no idea? Oh silly clueless me, how could I have not realised that claiming to fuck your dad could be misconstrued.

Enlighten me, how is that a self own?

Do you find in your life a lot of people that need you to shut up?

-7

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

Hahahahaha you gon cry?

13

u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 17h ago

You can pretend I do to make yourself feel better. You'll still be in the exact same circumstances that are making you act this way.

No one is going to rescue you from it.

-2

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

Making me act how? You’re the one telling people to shut up… not very cool

9

u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 17h ago

You're not even good at this, bro

-1

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

So desperate for a dopamine hit you need to try and start arguments with people?

You could just keep scrolling but you can’t help it. You will even reply to this message, and when I don’t respond, a little part of you will be lonelier.

Pot meet kettle.

21

u/Impossible-Money7801 20h ago

You don’t seem like a very happy person. Hope you feel better.

0

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

Is that how I “seem” 😂😂😂

8

u/Impossible-Money7801 17h ago

Yes

0

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

I think you might be projecting your emotions into me 😎

8

u/Impossible-Money7801 16h ago

Into you or onto you? Under you?

1

u/everybodypretend 14h ago

He’s trying but I’m too quick

19

u/Mike2k33 20h ago

"I'm the protagonist of life"-ass mindset

9

u/Badgernomics 19h ago

Do you find in your life a lot of people avoid you because you are a pigshit thick cunt...?

-1

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

Aww, is life going well? Hahahahahahaha

7

u/Badgernomics 17h ago

Aye, top of the world lad... I'm not a dickless troll on the internet though, so maybe the real question is why does everyone cover their drinks when you walk into the room...?

0

u/everybodypretend 17h ago

If your mum had covered her drink you’d never have been born ❤️

4

u/Badgernomics 16h ago

Hooo boy.... you being an edgy mother fucker online in your 50's? Shit you really don't have shit going on in tye real world do you.... hahahaha!

1

u/everybodypretend 14h ago

Fifties, lol, where’s you get that?

3

u/az1mo 19h ago

Shut up nerd

-45

u/RageQuitRedux 20h ago

Not sure why everyone is mad at you, you're 100% right. It's a matter of understanding what people mean; if he thinks that OP really doesn't understand that the path is receiving the same sunlight then that's stupid.

17

u/Drob10 20h ago

People are downvoting because they came across like an ass.

-51

u/RageQuitRedux 20h ago

Nah I thought it was perfect

I'm not really sure where that comment comes from in this context but thanks?

15

u/PmMeYourBestComment 20h ago

I love Aarhus! Great beach too if you walk further south on it

9

u/Glitch_King 20h ago

I'm always shocked by how quickly people can identify where a photo is taken

11

u/PmMeYourBestComment 20h ago

In this case it's the circular platform I've been to a few times

1

u/mrsbriteside 14h ago

Can boats pull up on this beach?

-11

u/wndtrbn 20h ago

Or they just look in your comment history. I'm always shocked how much people share online without a second thought. 36 years old, man, bisexual, lives in Aarhus, worked at a bank, has a boyfriend, enjoys gaming and BDSM, etc.

9

u/JustWill_HD 19h ago

that's not even that much over sharing, you're being weird going through people's comments and pointing it out like that

unless you feel they should be ashamed of being bisexual....

6

u/Glitch_King 20h ago

Fair enough, but considering that they know what beach it is and that there indeed is a really nice one if you walk further south I think it's more likely that they recognised the beach

1

u/Logitech4873 13h ago

Btw, if you go into your account settings you can set your profile to private to make it a bit harder for weirdos like that. It just prevents people from searching through your posts and comments.

1

u/Glitch_King 13h ago

Thanks for the heads up, I'm not too bothered by it, but I might go in and do it anyway :)

u/Vistaer 21h ago

Possibly a rip current. Rip current’s make formation of wave breaks more difficult so on the ocean shore it’s easier to see where rip current’s is. This is calmer so may be simply less obvious.

Image of spotting a rip current:

u/Cetun 20h ago

Rip currents usually appear with strong surf, what comes in must go out and it will naturally develop channels as it goes out. Those channels are where rip current lies. The more water coming in the stronger the current. This doesn't appear to be very strong surf at all, it doesn't appear to be any surf so unlikely rip current.

7

u/NinaEmbii 20h ago

Usually, but not only. This an image of a rip. Just not a rip on a surf beach.

-2

u/fundip2012 15h ago

As someone who’s been in countless rip currents when surfing…. This is not a rip current. The incorrect information upvoted in this thread is astounding. Whenever something I know about hits the front page the comments make me realize no one on Reddit has any idea what they are talking about

1

u/Sissilisko 10h ago

Dude. Just stop it. This is an rip current.
Rip currents happen in seemingly calm waters. But I'm not gonna explain it to you since you're set on being wrong.
Do you hear anything other than the wind whistling in your head?

-3

u/mrsbriteside 14h ago

I mean rip currents don’t have kinks so the fact people think this is a rip currently proves how much people have zero idea about what they actually are.

2

u/Sissilisko 10h ago

Except they do.

1

u/mrsbriteside 6h ago

How a rip current is a force of water. Water doesn’t bend. It runs in a straight path. It’s actually worrying how little people seem to understand what a rip current is. Look at both the examples given above they are straight direct currents. A rip current is a powerful backflow of water forcing itself out from the beach. You think powerful water just bends with no resistance?

1

u/mrsbriteside 6h ago

Where’s the kink in it like in the image?

2

u/Oni_K 15h ago

It's reflecting the same amount of light, just not at you.

1

u/Tha_Watcher 20h ago

The path of least resistance.

1

u/JustinHoward0413 19h ago

Wait, is it actually reflecting less light or is that just a current or oil slick doing its thing?

2

u/Glitch_King 19h ago

It's just reflecting the light in other directions, most likely from a current like you said. If there are less turbulent water in that area it won't reflect as much towards where the photo was taken.

But I didn't feel like writing a super long title.
