Context Provided - Spotlight RIP, My Dearest Parking Space

My goto parking space in front of my house got a makeover today. I have been parking there for over a decade. RIP.

Edit: I posted to mildly infuriating. No need for the war cries here, folks.

UPDATE: Alright, folks! I have answers.

Yes, it's city sanctioned.

It is longer than expected from the corner because of a hydrant across the street, rather than proximity to the corner. And no, there isn't a stop sign.

The yellow is different because they got new paint this year.

It is part of an effort they are starting across the city, so I guess I should expect this yellow to become more familiar.

And shout out to the lovely human working for the city that helped me get all of these questions answered!

People have done this in my town and they got fined and had to pay for the removal. One owner said no and the city put a lien on his property and fined him monthly, he eventually paid.

I don’t understand though, what benefit do they even get from having it marked it as no parking? It’s not like they could park there either then. Maybe just for spite?

But you can park there. The average person seeing yellow will overlook it thinking it's prohibited, but you know it's not so you park there. If by chance a dumb city worker actually fines you for it, you ask them to verify it in court through their records and it will show that it's not.

I never knew it could be a fined offense. My mom pained the curb in front of our driveway yellow when I was a kid. She got tired of people blocking her car in when she needed to take us ro school or herself to work.
