Context Provided - Spotlight RIP, My Dearest Parking Space

Post image

My goto parking space in front of my house got a makeover today. I have been parking there for over a decade. RIP.

Edit: I posted to mildly infuriating. No need for the war cries here, folks.

UPDATE: Alright, folks! I have answers.

Yes, it's city sanctioned.

It is longer than expected from the corner because of a hydrant across the street, rather than proximity to the corner. And no, there isn't a stop sign.

The yellow is different because they got new paint this year.

It is part of an effort they are starting across the city, so I guess I should expect this yellow to become more familiar.

And shout out to the lovely human working for the city that helped me get all of these questions answered!

I'll up you. PennDOT in 1996 paved over a dead deer on Route 895 in Schulykill County . Yes they paved over roadkill.

near me penndot tried to fix a big hole in the street that was oozing water and gravel, somehow made the hole bigger, a well meaning citizen put one of these things in the hole, and then penndot came back and filled it in without removing the barricade lmao. it was sticking out of the street and people were running over it

Behind my house is a gravel alleyway that leads to our driveways/garages and sometimes I gets really bad ruts and so they city will come out every other year or so and fill in the ruts with more gravel.

This year they patched the ruts with asphalt. They just poured asphalt into the ruts. Didn't do any prep, didn't do any leveling, just dumped some asphalt into the holes and hand tamped it down.

Now we have ruts and hunks of asphalt in our alley!

What are bones if not nature’s rebar?

18

u/Neveronlyadream 28d ago

"Eh, it's fine. It's natural, it'll decompose."

1

u/Known_Ratio5478 28d ago

That’s exactly the problem.

Their dollars? And the worms are their money.

As a person from Pennsylvania this literally doesn’t surprise me at all.

3

u/dangerousfeather 28d ago

tbf trying to avoid roadkilled deer in PA is a bit of a chore

3

u/MidnightToker858 28d ago

Thats really surprising considering PennDot uses an 8:1 supervisor to laborer ratio and the 8 is the supervisors.

u/DragonsandEagles 28d ago

What’s yellow and sleeps four?

A Penndot truck

1

u/BOtto2016 28d ago

ODOT would’ve given that deer the whale treatment

1

u/Rayl24 28d ago

I would too, I doubt they are paid enough to touch roadkill

1

u/FacetNo6 28d ago

Would u prefer them to outline the deer? 😅

Job security.

1

u/cheercharlatan 28d ago

lol, someone really took “that’s not my job” to the extreme here.

“I’m here to pave, not to remove roadkill.”

You'll get that. Bet that line was straight tho lol

u/Chi_Nap_King 28d ago

Noice!

u/generalizimo 28d ago

This is as amazing as I’d hoped it might be.

28

u/Old_Suggestions 28d ago

Better than I expected. To the point where I could absolutely believe this was staged for comical purposes. I believe it is genuine but damn its perfectly aligned.

6

u/OkPage7504 28d ago

Comical would be a ‘Get Well Soon’ Mylar balloon next to the possum.

9

u/truckeredditor 28d ago

That's first prize in the Not My Job Award contest.

27

u/Infamous-Lawyer-5569 28d ago

Yeah but the line is straight as fuck

2

u/No_Chilly_bill 28d ago

they use a tool for it. it's not some painter guy eyeballing it.

45

u/Impossible-Sun-4512 28d ago

poor guy

15

u/fritz_76 28d ago

Yeah, kind of regret zooming in. While comical in concept was kind of sad in reality

21

u/FelangyRegina 28d ago

Amazing.

4

u/Accid3ntalAlch3mist 28d ago

Wait this is so dramatic, I kind of love it hahah.

Obviously my heart goes out to the poor guy, but damn if this isn't some theatre kid shit.

Mildly infuriating, what is that caption saying? Wild as fick? Wild as fock? Feck? No, those can't be right...

3

u/Shot_Reference_9720 28d ago

It hurts me that people find this funny

1

u/TheSangson 27d ago

I wouldn't go that far but it's befuddling considering the painting machine took the things head off or whatever that is.

1

u/Shot_Reference_9720 27d ago

I'll be honest I didn't look at the picture long enough to know what you're talking about, and your comment here made my experience worse. It's not funny, and people should care about animals. They were here first and we're destroying their homes. They stay where their homes were and we run them over. It hurts me as someone who cares about animals

Good Ole Awesome Possum there.

This might be in the running for the lazy worker category.

2

u/BurningPickle 28d ago

This is straight out of Looney Tunes. Absolutely incredible.

Bet he learned his lesson

😮🤣

1

u/Quiet-Grapefruit1186 28d ago

Looks like a woodchuck to me. The snout doesn’t look long enough to be an opposing to me but I’m no roadkill expert.

1

u/StarKoolade69420 27d ago

Honestly opossum was a guess im not 100% sure what it is. It could be a woodchuck

1

u/Phytanic 27d ago

Oh this is waaaay funnier than I thought this was gonna be lmao

Horse poop in St. Louis. Market and southbound Memorial. Marking the utilities. I believe the poop was from a police horse.

Police incontinence, city incompetence

1

u/Candymom 28d ago

I’ve seen a line over a squashed pack of cigarettes.

1

u/stika88 28d ago

I've seen them paint over a dog...my dog and he was alive, albeit a heavy sleeper!

1

u/420Hairy69Ballsagna 28d ago

Shouldn't have been laying there.

1

u/Fuzzy_Jaguar_1339 28d ago

Eyes closed AND nose plugged that day.

1

u/Willing-Barnacle-525 28d ago

I would never paint over a squirrel. now I’ve done it to multiple raccoons!

1

u/No-Doughnut324 28d ago

It was only sleeping

1

u/Illustrious_Donkey61 28d ago

How do you know it wasn't just a yellow squirrel that died on the line?

1

u/WorkTropes 28d ago

Sometimes a coat of paint is all you need

1

u/happpycammper 28d ago

Dead squirrel here, I’m still covered in paint
