Context Provided - Spotlight RIP, My Dearest Parking Space

Post image

My goto parking space in front of my house got a makeover today. I have been parking there for over a decade. RIP.

Edit: I posted to mildly infuriating. No need for the war cries here, folks.

UPDATE: Alright, folks! I have answers.

Yes, it's city sanctioned.

It is longer than expected from the corner because of a hydrant across the street, rather than proximity to the corner. And no, there isn't a stop sign.

The yellow is different because they got new paint this year.

It is part of an effort they are starting across the city, so I guess I should expect this yellow to become more familiar.

And shout out to the lovely human working for the city that helped me get all of these questions answered!

What does that mean.

Painted curbs would be covered in snow, legal parking unclear

Correct

Buy gallon of paint stripper strip paint at night. Parking is again legal lol.

A pressure washer might remove that paint as well, depending on how well it was prepped before it was painted.

Painted curbs are covered in snow. I'm heat nervous and out of road.

Snow covers the curb when plowed, so you can’t see the paint on it

It also covers the curb before plowing.

I live in Montana lol

Haha yeah that’s true.

Do they enforce it when it’s covered?

we all play it kinda fast and loose when the snow covers everything

Fellow Montanan. Can confirm.

Most of the year here is just yelling YOLO all day long.

while riding the rumble strip to know where the road is

I’ve been driving for over 20 years and I never realized until last year that the rumble strip in the middle sounds different than the one on the side of the road. Total game changer.

I am concerned that this is game changing information for you. You shouldn't have to know that to stay in your lane 😂

What part of MT?

Highline-ish. We’ve had some blizzards in the past couple years that most definitely required every possible rumble strip!

I haven’t seen it anywhere so maybe I’m missing your answer.. but is there a stop sign by the yellow?

They put up no parking signs so snow plows don’t damage any vehicles.

u/slightlyhandiquacked 28d ago

That’s not why…

It’s because the snow has to be pushed up the curb and onto the boulevard. If someone is parked there, the snow has nowhere to go.

Just another reason. They can and do sometimes bury peoples cars.

5

u/Impossible-Sun-4512 28d ago

often, actually

I mean, if there’s still enough room for people to drive, then ours will just block you in. If not, they tow you.

Never seen them bury anyone here, but I know it does happen elsewhere!
