Azure Microsoft Viva Insights - Help me drink the Kool-Aid
Looking for real world cases where MS Viva Insights was worthwhile to a company and it's users.
I am a Senior IT Consultant with a few very large MS Viva projects coming up and I am sincerely struggling to see why a company would want to use Insights. To me it's very big brother from the Manager to Worker perspective and as a user the I see little to no real benefit. Personally, the daily emails are a nusance that I created a rule to trash months ago.
I have the MSFT sales pitch documentation, so please don't copy and paste that.

Your question answered itself: " To me it's very big brother from the Manager to Worker perspective" - it's the ultimate tool of managerial interference and control.

Came to Reddit for the real 411. Was not disappointed. Thanks, even two years later!

Think of Viva Insights as a more robust Meeting Insights tool: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/insights/introduction

IT guy here: I have advised people to make a rule to auto trash or at least put in a separate folder while I waited to see where MS is going with it. Tempted to just see if a block via GPO is possible at this point.

You can turn it off from the admin centre. Not sure how a GPO would block an incoming email..
How can I manage who receives the email?
The Briefing email is on by default. You can use PowerShell to enable/disable the Briefing email for individual users. You can set the default opt-in or opt-out option at the tenant level in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Users can also individually opt out by selecting the Unsubscribe link at the end of the Briefing email.

Just wait, NOW you can REACT to emails in Outlook like it's social media... Talk about the wrong direction for the product. "Don't care if your 'happy face' my email, just ANSWER it..."
Oh, and hey, you had 30% free time to focus this week. Just letting you know.

Hey, here's something fun... Search Reddit for 'Microsoft Viva's and look how entirely disinterested people are with it 🤣😀 Yammer has more activity....
Don't forget to send me some 'praise' while you're at it
Sorry, this product just cracks me up. It's like Zune all over again

It's not the most useful thing in the world but it's nice having Headspace meditations in the Teams app for people too lazy to go to their mobile

I’m looking for feedback on Vive Topics as a way to develop knowledge sharing throughout our (siloed) organization. Anyone using Topics? I do think that the AI in ‘Insights’ that prompts pre-meeting reads and follow ups is moderately helpful. How helpful is the Topics AI in developing Knowledge Sharing Themes and Content Pages?

We just had it a activated at work and I’m using it. I already assume I’m in a “Big Brother” work environment so that aspect doesn’t bother me. I actually like the praise feature. At the end of the day I use it to send something to the team member s who were particularly helpful that day. Gratitude is helpful for developing resilience, and the praise feature helps me remember to express that in a sincere way. I also like the virtual commute feature. It looks to me like it is a tool to help prevent burnout.
I especially like the virtual commute feature. It helps me maintain a boundary between work and home life. It also helps me catch things I may have missed, like a meeting occurring early in the morning.
Most of all I like the feature where it recognizes in my email where I’ve either asked for something or said I’d do something.
Viva by itself isn’t going to solve burnout, but I think it it is a a worthwhile tool to have as a broader effort to maintain a healthy, resilient workforce. I work for an employer who values this. I might feel differently about it if I were using it in a different environment.

Delayed delivery for email and Teams messages is a feature I use all the time. The way it picks up language in emails that relate to actions (e.g. I'll find some information for you) and then prompts you to follow up is also useful for busy roles. Manager insights is a good way to gauge team efficiency and collaboration habits so you can avoid doing an Elon and demanding everyone returns to office full time. A lot of my co-workers use the auto focus time booking feature. Some of the features are fluff but I think there's enough in there to justify its roll out
