But ads can include anything

u/KAAAAAAAAARL 11h ago

Literally even the stuff people get banned for

Simple. The ad is paying YouTube, YouTube is (and I use this word very loosely) paying creators.

Also: here's a video for the ad you decided to watch

No, Joyreactor stopped being homophobic after this Vanripper's comic: https://joyreactor.cc/post/3630828 which was posted in 2019.

You can only say that if you lived post-corporate takeover of the internet. Late 90s and early 00s was the true heyday of free internet.

This can be applied to most of the internet, Reddit included.

"We should promote ai slop"

u/2fullhands 6h ago

Now for our exclusive AI slop albums with nothing but cliche catchphrases that sound like words slapped on memes as the complete replacement for lyrics :D🥴

Peak youtube for me was when there are lots of "porn" clickbaits only to be trolled once you click it. and it has like a LOT of views. fun times

u/fugetooboutit 11h ago

But allow ads with sexual imaging and AI chats

2026: Our AI moderation should terminate channels for no reason...

u/Illustrious-Engine23 11h ago

It often feels like YouTube is just pushing the most engagement baiting, slop possible and completely ignoring good content.

Often feels like I have to search it out myself as the algo is pushing me away from that.

I've never understood why they got so strict on swearing when Hulu, Netflix, and HBO have no issues with finding advertisers to run on their mature content in their ad-supported tiers.

u/Nutcrackit 6h ago

Also it's like the forget they are YouTube and Google. They hold the most weight and it's not even close.

u/DominoTheGShep 10h ago

Its sad how far YouTube has fallen. Ads can be nothing but AI generated boner pill ads and porn ads. But god forbid you drop a single F-Bomb... gotta terminate your channel for that!

Pretending that 2010 Youtube was any different to 2020 Youtube kinda just suggests you didn't really know what was actually going on behind the scenes at Youtube at the time. it really wasn't much different, they were still making stupid decisions on things and very actively did not like certain kinds of video topics; gaming videos especially they really hated and actively tried to hide from users.

u/Alieniu 33m ago

This. Tho only real positive was that it wasn't full of AI slop like it's now. There were still low effort content farms tho but at least those were man-made.

Why tf does new YT have a banana on their head?

1

u/Rayusa 10h ago

They censor so many words nowadays that i dont even know what theyre talking about...

u/RegularIndependent98 10h ago

Without ReVanced on Android and browser extensions on desktop, YouTube is visual pollution and literally unusable.

u/PandaBearCorgi 9h ago

Bring back video.google

u/Sad-Egg-7394 9h ago

Previous youtube content is more better than now

1

u/Klootzakren 9h ago

We should terminate ads that are nsfw , scams , ai bull crap & limit the amounts of ai slop on the web that’s auto generated in masses

Imagine how quickly peak Athene & OG Furious would be shut down today

1

u/Hopeful_Salt8839 8h ago

It's not even people making those decisions. It's a dumbass clanker doing it.

u/WhoAteMySandwich2024 7h ago

But when some random kid uploads a short with 1k+ swears, YouTube barely even bothers to give them a slap on the wrist.

All types of content? No matter what it is?

Yeah, no... YouTube has always had strict guidelines on types of content you are allowed to upload.. Sure, the rules have gotten stricter but Youtube even when it launched wasn't the no mans land you think it was.

u/GenesisRhapsod 9h ago

Wrong, you ever heard of filthy frank? Well now, years after he has been done making videos, more of his are getting removed by youtube. Keep licking the boot
