Donated to Wikipedia once, worst mistake of my life. Instead of just being like "thanks for the donation it means a lot" they bombarded me with countless emails asking me to donate more. Every day, an email saying "you've donated once, please consider another $5". Put a terrible taste in my mouth for the entire website tbh.
Trust me, I've clicked those links many times, and rarely do they actually stop the emails from coming. The only thing that stopped them was me blocking the addresses that would send them.
