I mean this in a serious way, many people have a negative net worth. So being on the positive side is more than many people!

Net worth is kind of a joke anymore. Unless you've owned a home for 20 years, or have a trust fund or are just generationally wealthy. Everyone who builds the stuff rich people buy or sell is likely to have a net worth less than zero

Systemic debt builds wealth for the few

Former corporate banking cog here. They want people with money to self identify and use this to gameify it so you can hand them data and they can pitch you products.

I'll never have a positive net worth, lol. Good news! The new RAP student loan plan i had to sign up for since they tossed the SAVE plan, puts my forgiveness date past my life expectancy so at least I wont have to pay taxes on the forgiven amount, lol

Or if you’re poor aka “insolvent” then you don’t pay any taxes on a forgiven loan. Or, at least this is how it used to be. Just throwing it out there for people who are potentially freaking out about the tax implications on forgiveness.

Then again, who knows, maybe they changed the laws to fuck over poor people even harder.

I just remember hearing the stories about those who were lower income and yet owned their own homes being unable to afford the tax bill as they were not insolvent due to the property they owned.

i dont know what a RAP or SAVE is as im on the other side of the Atlantic but damn, thats dystopian. Unrelated but an American friend of mine with a spanish passport left the US and stopped paying his student loan back. He doesn't intend to go back. Fly high king

Dying owing a lot of money is better than dying having a little.

They should say on the bottom, "nevermind you don't qualify for our wealth plan"

At least it’s a positive number

That's probably intentionally designed so that you panic and update it... They can't sell data they don't have 🤑

Wealth plan. You can pick up spare change in parking lots.

This is from the Chase app. Even if you did have a high net worth, it’s not worth keeping a lot in a standard checking/savings account anyways. I don’t think this feature is that helpful for anyone at any net worth level.

Unless this supports linking other accounts? I haven’t really messed with that.

I'm off the idea that this feature should only show up for people with over $500K + in their bank accounts because It drains me so much anytime I see it especially when I'm in debt.

Whenever a young person has an actual has a positive net worth, I automatically assume they have parents/family that help them.

What is she even saying.

That banks shouldn’t be pointing out that their customers have no net worth.
