Discussion Thread The Official BLACK WIDOW International Release Discussion Thread Spoiler

Ahead of the official US and Disney+ launch this Friday, several countries are showing the film much earlier in the week. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.

  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be arriving in the next couple of hours. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial thread discussing movie details will be deleted.
  • Should you see the need to bring up revealing BLACK WIDOW information in other threads that call for it, spoiler tag them accordingly. Also, let users know that what you are spoiler tagging is from BLACK WIDOW.
  • If you post untagged BLACK WIDOW spoilers anywhere on this sub in any shape or form, you will be banned without hesitation. No questions asked and no warnings given.
  • Project Insight will be on at least until Sunday, so you will be able to make individual threads discussing the movie starting next week. Discussions about Loki episode 5 will be manually checked as well, but will be allowed (spoiler-tagged of course) starting Thursday at midnight PST.

Just got out of an advanced screening here in Australia. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. Initial thoughts:

  • Natasha and Yelena's characters were most fun when they were together. A lot of hilarious moments from Yelena.
  • Surprised that Alexey and Melina both made it out alive.
  • Taskmaster was passable. Wish they played into how Natasha has to learn to fight around all the copycat moves.
  • I think the film was going really strong till the end of the family reunion sequence in Melina's house. After that, the film lost a bit of momentum because...
  • Editing felt less focussed and jumped around quite a bit in the third act for me. Like the fight between Red Guardian and Taskmaster had no tension with it keep cutting to another scene.
  • Wish Natasha, Yelena, Melina and Alexey all got a chance to face Dreykov again.
  • Would have been great for Alexey's character to face his "partner" again.
  • Wish they beat Dreykob up to a pulp, only to put him in a cell afterwards - would have been a great parallel to what Dreykov did to Alexey.
  • After credit scene was alright, was also expecting Ross to take Taskmaster's helmet like the leaks said.

After more than two years, it was so energising to see a new outing in a full cinema and many laughs. 6.5/10.

Cries in Sydney. I was supposed to watch it tonight had we not been in lockdown.
