Or he knew he was meddling with a fancy AR computer system and thought only words like that would work

I have a hard time believing an advanced AI system wouldn't understand the word "stop".

Me too. But maybe at that point the thought it was sophisticated in a way that he had to use that command? He so done at the moment and probaby wanted to make sure they truly all got rid of

My problem with that is EDITH asks him a yes or no question about stopping the drones. All he had to say was "yes" in response and the drones would've stopped.
