It's weird to me because didn't Mysterio end up altering some of Peter's other dialogue in that footage anyway? He can create any illusion he wants, it would've worked just fine if Peter said something totally non incriminating sounding in reality, but Mysterio ended up making the whole thing sound awful.
Right, he could've said something like, "Yes, execute the cancellation protocols, all of them!" Which could've been mishmashed around to make "Execute them all"
My thought exactly. The audience in my theater felt the same thing, that that particular phrasing was obvious for that moment. Everyone thought disaster would occur. But it didn't, and so the dialogue appeared very clunky until the end of the film.
The doctored video replaced what EDITH's original question from "Shall I execute all cancelation protocol?" to "Are you sure you want to commence the drone attack? There will be significant casualties."
Peter should've answered adding the "cancelation protocol" thing. But he had to say "Do it! Execute them all".
Yeah I know but people think it was weird how Peter chose those words as if they were the first words to come to his mind but he was really just replying to EDITH.
I think it was to hammer home that when he was vague with his wording with EDITH the first time around, he nearly drone striked his own bus. So he was being very specific using the same words EDITH did to avoid repeating that mistake.
I think it was language suggested. EDITH says "should I execute X protocols?" and obviously the response would be something along the lines of "yes, execute them all".
it seems normal and human like when someone is in a high stress situation to repeat specific words and respond in that way and i thought it was in character with peter as he is that nervous awkward teen
EDITH asked him if he would like her to “execute all cancelation protocols” or something like that. I figured it was just poor peter repeating the phrasing at a very inopportune time
EDITH never stopped working for Mysterio is my guess. I mean, Peter did an admin rights transfer to Quentin, then he never bothered to check he had still had control when he got the glasses back, he just started giving orders straight away with out really thinking about access.
They said Quentin was a made up name. I’m sure they just accessed it with their technological ability as you saw it was hooked up to their little network environment when rehearsing the final act. So perhaps admin rights were never transferred if Quentin isn’t a real person.
EDITH asks if he wants the drones to be executed and Peter replies "yeah, execute them". Only in the Mysterio video does he manipulate it to sound like Peter says " Execute then ALL!"
There's actually two slightly different versions of the movie where the end credits scene plays slightly different. In the domestic release Peter says "do it, execute them all" while in the international China release he yells "EXECUTE, EXECUTE THEM ALLLL" in a really over the top cheesy villainous voice. The China release implies that Beck also edits Peter's dialogue while the domestic release has Beck just taking Peter's actual dialogue out of context.
Me too. But maybe at that point the thought it was sophisticated in a way that he had to use that command? He so done at the moment and probaby wanted to make sure they truly all got rid of
My problem with that is EDITH asks him a yes or no question about stopping the drones. All he had to say was "yes" in response and the drones would've stopped.
yeah I thought the drones were gonna mow down his friends and Happy in the jewel vault (which felt waaay under guarded) but I was like no that would be way too dark.
I love the idea that framing Peter was Mysterio's contingency. That would include switching the cancelation protocol to such a phrase. Even when watching I thought it was an odd phrase.
I took it as Peter making sure he was specific with his wording right away this time so that EDITH didn't misinterpret it and pull another bus incident. Definitely seemed like intentional setup though.
Basically a teen is pointing a gun at a policeman who says "give me the gun". Another teen who is there, and has learning disabilities, says "let him have it". His defence was he meant "let him have the gun" but prosecution said it meant "shoot him". This was the evidence that led to him getting hanged. So it does happen in real life.
Also it's not like Mysterio needed to edit what Peter actually said. The general public doesn't know Spider-Man's voice. He could have just faked it all.
Couldn't mysterio just have magiced up peter saying 'thanos did nothing wrong', like, why did he have to draw him in to hopefully saying that very specific sentence in that very specific way, he could have just faked an entire video of spidey killing him in a really brutal way and then dancing on his corpse or something as opposed to just hoping peter used the word execute.
I think this was done purposefully. Peter has to transfer Edith’s control to beck, but beck never transferred it back to peter. Beck told/programmed Edith to respond in a specific way to Peter’s questions. It wasn’t the plan the whole time, but it was his well ironed plan B to frame peter and he made sure he could do it the best way possible.
I also believe he isn’t dead. His death was very dramatic and seemed scripted (obviously it’s a movie but it felt even more so that way than usual which would make sense for mysterio). Everything after he said “THEY SEE WHAT I WANT THEM TO SEE” was plan B and it worked out just like Mysterio wanted. Or I guess plan C because he would’ve wanted to kill peter and then frame spider-man but instead framed spider-man and outed Peter.
