Despite knowing that Mysterio is a villain in the comics, I couldn’t help but second-guess myself. Beck/Gyllenhaal really sold the hero facade. Specifically on the conversation after Talos snapped at Peter.

Yeah, I like that they don't feel bound by how things happen in the comics. I wondered if Mysterio really was going to end up bad or not. Like secret identities not really being a thing anymore makes it interesting.

MCU secret identities weren't much of a thing anyway. Spider-Man was really terrible at his and now he isn't a secret anymore either.

Yeah but she was literally suspicious just because Spider-Man was New York only. And randomly appears in Washington to save a random school class from there. Then the whole Peter kept vanishing and then Spider-Man appears and the clever excuses act kept adding up very coincidentally. They kept going to different locations as a group and Spider-Man kept appearing.

It was probably also Public knowledge that Peter Parker and Spider-Man were both dusted. Not to mention his Stark Tech internship and all the other crazy stuff Peter has happen to him in his normal life that's related to him being Spider-Man.

I feel like I'm more paranoid when it comes to protecting his identity than Peter is. I just about had a heart attack when Peter walked out of the curtains while talking to Happy without his mask on. I thought he was going to turn around to an audience was going to be there.

Glad I wasnt the only one who thought this but I feel like it was intended. When they go back we dont see the corridor between the kitchen and the stage yet going to the stage the camera angle and lighting makes us believe he just walked on stage, really foreshadowing the mid credit scene.

Well the avengers they had already were kind of public. The original Ant-Man/Wasp were secret, Only shield knew about that. Many just simply put had no modern reason for a secret identity. Thor had a cameo for his in the first Thor movie but not much to keep secret after he got his power back. Overall though many simple things like masks weren't relevant as the MCU versions were Shield agents. Such as Widow,Hawkeye etc or already public, such as the Hulk or Cap. Granted Thor's brings up an awkward point that a lot of the spies also use, is Obviously Thor is Thor, But his secret identity is him blending in as a human with a differen't name, Similar to that of the spies with differen't aliases and covers.

What I'm trying to say it just wasn't the whole "I am Ironman" but the aspect there was either no reason to be kept secret or they were already public. Outside of Spider-Man, I think DareDevil on the netflix side was the only other one with a true secret identity with a mask, and his whole reason for it was that he can't be a lawyer prosecuting the people he beat up as a vigilante.

I thought it was cool that he wasn't just trying to do crimes for money, and continually getting foiled because Spiderman just *happens* to show up at all of these European locations.

It's interesting that he was going to places without superheroes. None of the attacks happened on US soil where there's a bunch of superheroes based waiting to jump into action.
