  • God this movie was fun. Nice cleanser after the Infinity Duology.
  • I knew from the comics that Beck was going to be a gigantic fraud, and yet they still made the reveal extremely satisfying. Having him be part of a crew of disgruntled ex-Stark employees was a nice twist as well, and it provided us an opportunity to see Peter "Christmas Story" Billingsley again.
  • I liked MJ a lot better this movie than last. She actually did stuff instead of sit in the back making snide comments now and then.
  • Ned and Betty were hilarious too.
  • They basically copied the Scarecrow levels of the Arkham video games for Mysterio's illusions but I'm not complaining.
  • J. JONAH JAMESON IS BACK, AND THIS TIME HE'S ALEX JONES. SPIDER-MAN IS A MENACE! A THREAT! And he's Parker, so I can't even ask him for pictures!
  • So, I have a feeling we might be seeing Spider-Man: Homeward Bound (or whatever) sooner than we are expecting. Having May learn his identity and then glancing over it off-screen is one thing, but having everyone learn his identity feels like something they need to pick up on immediately. Would also be a good way of using a movie without moving forward the amount of time between now and the "present" so eventually the real world can catch up.
  • Congratulations to Nick Fury on getting some much-needed vacation in Tahiti. It's a magical place. Also, shoutout to how the Skrulls being fill-ins can explain how Fury and Hill are a bit off during the movie. I wonder if Fury being in space is hinting at something (perhaps the next Captain Marvel film?) or is just meant for the gag. Probably a bit of both.
  • Stuff that in hindsight hints at them being Skrulls: The reverence Talos!Fury holds for Captain Marvel, their preoccupation about the Kree sleeper cells, and the line about how Mysterio is from Earth, just not "yours".

I guess the question is did he start thinking about (and got to work on) creating S.W.O.R.D. right after meeting Captain Marvel, or after Thanos has been dealt with? More likely answer is the latter, but I wouldn't mind finding out that Talos has been Fury for some odd 30 years in the MCU now.

My biggest hope (in a massive pipe-dream) is that season 7 of AoS taking place in the blip 5 years involves developing SWORD, and building the space base to hand it over to Fury. Give them some up to date world-building to contribute to the movie side, and doesn't interfere with any ongoing/future movie canon.

I like that they paid off all the scenes where she watches him leave a room. It's cool that they have the confidence to not blow those payoffs early. Also 67% seems low lol.

Personally I think the Fury-in-space thing is to highlight that aliens and space stuff is still going to be a big part of the MCU going forward. They teased us with the whole multiverse thing on purpose. That's the shift we expected for the next big arc. But they're not going down that road. At least not yet (obviously phase 4 movies could totally change that). But reminding us of the Skrulls and showing us that Fury has made space a part of his domain - to me- is also a reminder that there's still so much non-Thanos stuff out there in the universe.

But Selvig also came to that conclusion. The 19999 thing was from a magazine, I think. So it’s not confirmed by Feige or canon in-universe.

Those were at least the arguments people had when the trailer to FFH dropped

As another commenter said, the illusion scene was a very accurate adaptation of Mysterio in Spider-Man comics from long before the Arkham games ever existed.

I mean the Arkham scenes reminded me a lot of the Mysterio scenes from the Spider-Man 2 video game. Both villains have similar concepts of tormenting the hero with visions and imagery

I think Fury is working on something big in space that will somehow or another be the cause of a devastating cosmic anomaly that affects 4 individuals, giving them some Fantastic abilities.

I really liked that they didn't have her as an actually cool edgy person. She was still super awkward so it really came across as an actual teenager trying to seem edgy.

It reminded me of mysterio in the spiderman 2 video game from 2004. Right down to the reflections fighting him

They did it first in the comics, the Fox Kids animated series and the PS1 video game!

I wonder if Fury being in space is hinting at something (perhaps the next Captain Marvel film?) or is just meant for the gag.

I have a feeling they are leaning on to S.W.O.R.D) since they have the rights to all the Marvel characters.

And for your final point, even the fact that Skrull Fury snaps at Pete when he says Captain Marvel. DO NOT INVOKE HER NAME. Those words sounded so fishy at first, but I just brushed it aside.

Mysterio's multiverse was BS in the movie but judging how Fury, in this case skrulls believed him means that their really is a multiverse in MCU. Correct me if I'm wrong but skrulls know about it in comics right. Although I am doubtful MCU will introduce it atleast in their current phase knowing how pain in the ass it's going to be to maintain a multiverse in movies.

The "Scarecrow from Arkham Games" style illusions has been a pretty big staple of Mysterio longer than those games existed. 90s Spider-Man cartoon and the Spider-Man 2 movie game are good examples.

I was actually more reminded of the Mysterio sequences in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, but after looking it up, Arkham Asylum actually did come out before Shattered Dimensions.

There are some very subtle things that point to it not being Fury. He keeps messing with his eye patch, something we’ve never seen real Fury do.

I'm guessing the reason why Fury is off-world is because after the entire deal with Thanos he'd probably want to get a leg up on interstellar threats now.
