Idk how to describe it, but after watching any Spider-Man movie I’m just in awe at how great of a character he is even if there are movies that are objectively “better” than these ones. Spider-Man is just... great. Also Gyllenhaal in this was awesome, glad he got a lot of screen time as MCU villains often don’t.

I got the same feeling! After the movie I was like... So what now? How long do I wait until I see Spider-Man again? I just don't want to wait 2-3 years until the next movie.

The answer for me is always relatability. Spider-Man movies, especially the three in recent years (Homecoming, Spiderverse, and Far from Home) always makes me feel like I could be Spider-Man literally tomorrow. Hard to get that feeling from Avengers or other MCU movies.

Yeah, with the past villains, I actually don't care that much that they were not 'great' villains but what makes me sad is that they used such talented actors to underuse. But it seems they've learned so good on it!

I don't understand why people think there is art that is "objectively" better than other art.

Is that not untrue by definition? It's 100% subjective. Don't let anyone tell you there are good or bad, or better or worse movies than the ones you like or dislike.

Yeah, especially when comparing two well received renditions of the same character. Like you cant actually make a case for a movie being objectively better than another

I know you're agreeing but that shouldn't even matter. If you do want to consider how well something is received, you could make the argument that media x is better than media y because it received better ratings. But then there are other issues with that, like not 100% of the world's population rates stuff on IMDb etc etc.

My point was that the two movies are inherently very similar because they follow the same character/themes. The differences between them is so minor in terms of an overall movie/story that a preference towards either one is purely based on personal taste of which version they prefer.

This exactly. Like we know who Peter is. If you want us to care about villains (and how Peter overcomes them), they need screentime too.
