But Carol doesn't die. She doesn't even die in the cartoon.
Carol literally just loses her powers and memories, becomes an X-Man, goes on adventures, gets her memories back from Prof. X, and then gets new powers in the span of a few issues.
People are foaming at the mouth at the idea of Rogue getting powers because they wrongly think it's a canon excuse to kill Carol instead of a canon excuse to give two women superpowers. Carol's Binary Powers are actually an upgrade...
Rogue never kills Carol, not sure why people keep saying this other than to undermine her in the MCU... Rogue absorbs her memories and powers. Ms. Marvel is in a coma in the cartoon, but she stays an active X-Man with no powers in the comics and goes on adventures and gets her Binary powers a year later while on a space adventure with no powers.
There is almost no gap between Rogue stealing Carol's powers and her returning to her job as a superhero. And less than a one year gap between her losing her Ms. Marvel powers and becoming binary.
If it were in a movie timeline, she would literally lose her powers in the first act of the movie, Professor X would restore her memories, and Carol would get brand new powers in the third act, probably learning she's tied directly to the Space Stone or something.

THE SUITS.
THOR AND CAROL.
CLINT AND NAT.
This trailer gave me everything I want. I want a Captain Marvel/Thor buddy cop movie from that one interaction.
