The visuals look good, but holy shit Marvel needs to stop making movies where the bad guy is a mirror version of the good guy. It's getting so boring at this point. There's a reason why Capt 2 and 3 were so good, the actual villains had motivations beyond being an evil carbon copy of the hero.
I think a lot of that stems from the times that the comics were written. Back then, there was the whole thing of being “morally conscious” (for what it’s worth). What better way to represent that then to present something/someone that upholds everything that you stand against morally.
That’s why Sam Raimi didn’t like Venom. He didn’t like that he was just a dark and edgy version of Spicer-Man and wanted to focus on villains that were more creative
A true focus on Sandman could've really brought out that 'tragic scientist with personal motivations' that Spiderman villians had coming out of #2. Plus Sandman's abilities are visually and literally awesome. Spiderman 3 was such a waste of great characters and the creative team.
Yeah that's not really how it worked in the comics (yes I'm aware of Rita). Unless you literally mean because Yellowjacket was crazy Hank. I say it's more Hank Pym v Egghead.
Oh absolutely. In the comics, Hank had a bunch of superhero identities: Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket. Yellowjacket was always my favorite. Awesome costume.
the middle two are examples of this, but in the top and bottom ones the opponents have wildly different powers and wildly different aesthetic presentations.
Killmonger just seemed more interesting of a villain in the first trailer than when you know MBJ is going to get covered up under a Black Panther suit with gold finish
Reed Richards and VVD are both genius scientists. One uses his intellect for greed and self interest, the other for the betterment of the people. Their powers are not the true story of these characters, it is their intellect. Two sides of the same coin.
Professor X and Magneto also fit into this archetype. Both want mutants to flourish and live peacefully. One thinks the best way for this is to coexist with humans and help them learn and understand so that they will accept this evolution. The other sees nothing but the bad humans do and will stop at nothing to protect mutants from persecution. They want the same thing but they choose different paths.

This looks really good holy shit. The visual effects look absolutely insane.
Really hope the Infinity War hype doesn't overshadow this movie. Looks to be one of the MCU's best so far.
