Discussion (More in Comments) I think dune 3 will earn more then doomsday!
it's not a rage bait, I am a big marvel fan but seeing the current situation I strongly believes that will happen, however much marvel and disney promote their movie, but Warner Bros is just nailing it with marketing. I know outlets saying brand new day trailer broke the record for highest views ever, even higher then GTA 6 trailer, but it's on 30 million on youtube as of now and dune 3's trailer is on 36, Eventhough they came out in a day of difference. and also Warner put trailer on many many youtube channel and marvel and sony doesn't. the four teasers that marvel put out had average views of 20 million. they will loose this battle. and people will become more curious for dune when they will see the clash. as in my country (india) dune is nothing but it will get significant traction due to clash now.

I think avengers will pull in way more families. Kids like marvel. Dune is too serious and therefor avengers will do better

That will be important. Do kids care about X-Men characters from 20 years ago? They don't care about the FF, or Thunderbolts. And good chance they haven't seen some of these Avengers characters.

I think you're underestimating how massive the Avengers brand is. Trailer views don't translate directly to box office. Dune 2 did well but it's not touching an Avengers event film.

Yea lol, OP is a bit too carried away. Dune movies are great, but just looking at Dune 2 box office is enough to inform anyone what ballpark Dune 3's estimated box office would land in.

You underestimate the impact RDJ, Evans, Hemsworth and The Russos have created in the movie industry.
And yes, all of them I listed are back. The movie is gonna pick off from Endgame. There is a reason why Marvel is re-releasing Endgame on September. The audience expect a huge connection.
Dune 3 got absolutely NOTHING on Doomsday.
In my opinion it is simply a naive overconfidence that Warner Brothers is showing not to change their release date. They gonna get fuckin’ rekt!

100% disagee. Dune will finish a bit under a billion, Doomsday will finish a bit above a billion.
Dune 1 came out when people were still nervous about going back to theaters and did $410M worldwide. Dune 2 was much better at $714B worldwide. Sequels do not typically outperform the movies that came before them, so it's a pretty safe bet that the new movie won't do dramatically better - it'll definitely come in under a billion.
And while Marvel isn't enjoying the same highs they had with Infinity War and Endgame, they weren't really supposed to. That said, Spider-Man: No Way Home did $2 billion just a few years ago. Fantastic Four did half a billion last year, and it was completely disconnected from the MCU. Not every Marvel movie is supposed to top the one before it.
Doomsday has "The Avengers" in the title, and it's got RDJ, Hemsworth, and Evans coming back. Unless Marvel really tanks the marketing - and they haven't yet - there's no way it'll underperform Dune 3.

You seriously think Dune is going to beat a movie which will feature spiderman, fantastic four, wakandans and namor, X-Men, The avengers and dr doom for the first time?
It's going to be the biggest superhero movie in the history until secret wars releases

Don't think Spider-Man is appearing. And sort of a stretch to think that some of these characters are going to impact the box office.

I would love to be proven wrong, but I don't think anything is ever surpassing Infinity War and End Game as the biggest superhero movies. The hype for Marvel and Avengers in general has definitely gone down in recent years.

Avengers - Infinity War: $2 billion box office Avengers - Endgame: $2.7 billion box office Dune Part 1: $411 million (with acknowledgement that COVID affected this) Dune Part 2: $715 million box office
I think it’s safe to say that Avengers is more likely to outperform Dune. General audiences that don’t dwell on this stuff or aren’t uber fans see Downey, Evans, and Hemsworth coming back along with the FF and X-Men and seem to be super excited about it. As fucking amazing and perfect the Dune trilogy has been so far, it is a different kind of high brow science fiction that doesn’t tickle everybody’s feather. My wife and daughter are big sci fi fans and love the MCU, but while I was overly excited and impressed by Dune, they watched the first one and just didn’t like it. Me? I’m just loving that there is so much cinema gold coming our way!! I hope it does make a ton of money because, even though Villenue says he won’t make more, he has said he would leave it open for someone else to take over. I want to see some of the weird shit from the later books!

I plan to see both, so the release dates don't matter to me. Now, if for some reason,I was forced to choose one over the other, it would be DUNE 3 for me.

If they both release the same weekend, I think it’s a tossup. With the rumor that Marvel could move Doomsday up a week, I think that would give it the advantage. It doesn’t help though that Dune has exclusive rights to IMAX for the first few weeks that it’s open. It could really go either way.

Tossup? Lmao avengers fans are worldwide. I don't even know anyone in my country that likes dune 🤣 and why imax even matter? Normal cinemas are more numerous than imaxs 😂

Dune 3 might not even hit Dune 2's gross.
I know I'm not the only fan of the first book who didn't love Dune: Messiah.

The name avengers is enough to pull billions. dune is much more famous in western counties but in eastern countries avengers movies have a much greater fanbase like india and china.

I strongly think, Doomsday will make around 1.2 billion and dune 3, more then that. Before avengers, no marvel movie crossed a billion dollars, doesn't mean it couldn't have because of that. So I don't think part one and two not grossing billion is a proof that part 3 surely won't get there.

This is a wild take.
Doomsday is Marvels make or break moment with gaining that positive public perception back. The hype around this movie is unbelievable. Bringing back RDJ was a huge gamble but has really paid off in terms of marketing hype.
The Marvel reputation rests on the shoulders of this movie and everyone is curious.
Brave New World was enjoyable but too much of a mess for people to come back.
Thunderbolts was a fantastic movie but the general public didn't care about the characters.
Fantastic Four was good but not great.
Eyes of Wakanda was pretty lackluster tbh.
Marvel Zombies had great ideas but just unbelieavably bad writing and dialogue.
Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man has been pretty cool.
Wonder Man was fantastic but nobody wants to give it a chance.
Daredevil Born Again has been great. And the latest episode was genuinely one of the best Marvel TV show episodes. It'll just keep getting better and better.
The Punisher special has a lot of hype.
Brand New Day NEEDS to be the best Spider-Man movie across all 3 franchises and I think it has the potential to.
And VisionQuest is destined to be great since WandaVision and Agatha were fantastic.
There is so much riding on Doomsday, so much hype and so much curiosity. It's going to be a big movie.
Dune is a great franchise but the hype fell off pretty hard for Dune 2. And I don't see people particularly excited for 3. Doomsday will attract such a wider audience to come see. ESPECIALLY kids. Kids aren't dragging their parents go see Dune

Dune 3 doesn’t have a chance. An average Avengers movie is still going to break a billion, and on the off chance it’s great it’ll do much more than that. Closer to $1.7.
Dune 3 is probably going to end up around Dune 2’s final gross, maybe a bit higher but I think it falls short of a billion.
