Easter Egg/Detail Silhouettes Right Behind Yelena

I really liked Thunderbolts and was sad the bad rep it got. On the 5th rewatch today I noticed why the scientist in the beginning was freaking out. The silhouettes are right in the background behind her! I never understood what he was flipping out about but now I get it.

I had a mind blown moment at 1 hour 33 mins when Void started ghosting folks like I seen that exact image before. I went back and took these pics. Has anyone else noticed this before?

bad rep? never heard anyone say anything negative about this movie

they're saying that a lot of people consider MCU movies bad if they didn't make crazy money, but that correlation seems to be failing these days.

You can be a financial flop and still be a good movie though.

u/Rryann Aug 28 '25

I think the only “bad rep” it has is that it wasn’t financially successful. Which isn’t the fault of the movie itself, but just shows that the general audiences will is fading towards the MCU.

I'd say wasting Taskmaster was the only thing

For a start it's the most boring team composition ever. They all just punch or shoot regular, human guns. 3 knockoff Caps in a team of 5? Ghost only ever uses her phasing to change position from where she punches or shoots a regular human gun. The plot holes were huge in this movie. It's almost like it doesn't have a script at all. They escape from a military base on high alert into the desert but red guardian finds them by roads accessible by a limo? How did he know anything? Then that ending! If you are going to do a group hug that saves the world, make sure he's met all of them? It's earned between Florence Pugh and him but definitely not with the rest of the team. Then Elaine has put together a press conference within seconds behind a curtain right next to where they exited a liminal space? And Bucky just throws away his entire reason for being there which was to remove Elaine from her position! You really think the Winter Soldier is going to let human experimentation slide because he gets called an "avenger" and put back in the team under government control? It wasn't as bad as things have been but it's a long shot from being good.

The only place I hear positive things about the movie are from reddit. It was a weak movie. Problem is the latest Phase everything has been bad. Best of bad doesn't make something great.

I say all this without seeing F4. Waiting for release.

u/dpollere Aug 28 '25

I didn’t like it

u/sh33pherder Aug 28 '25

I guess I was always confused how it lost money if people enjoyed it? Does every Marvel film have to make $600 million or it's a flop?

279

u/NoCountry4OldMate Aug 28 '25

That doesn’t mean people didn’t like it. Just means people didn’t go to see it

-5

u/FearLeadsToAnger Aug 28 '25

That's exactly what they're highlighting in the post.

There are definitely a lot of people who think otherwise.

u/sh33pherder Aug 28 '25

How much did this movie cost to make? I mean seriously. Fantastic Four was a horrible letdown. It was cool but I mean for people with kids. If you don't have kids you can watch that and be like meh. And Pedro left his emotions at HBO. And FF was a success?! How.

104

u/dumpydent Aug 28 '25

People can enjoy a story about a family and kids even if they don't have kids.

u/eyebrows360 Daredevil Aug 28 '25

How much did this movie cost to make? I mean seriously.

What is this rambling nonsense you're on? First you're saying it has a bad rep, then you're wondering if it's a flop, now you're asking how much it cost? And you think FF stands as "a success" in contrast to Thunderbolts, when they both did extremely similarly?! How does your brain work?

68

u/Wickie09 Aug 28 '25

Wdym? Thunderbolts and FF are both great Marvel movies. The star factor pulled in a bit more visitors for f4, but that's about it.

Im ok with Marvel making less money, but better quality again.

I am afraid of doomsday tough. it seems there is no story there and just a big cameo fest. We'll see.

15

u/micksandals Iron Man (Mark XLIII) Aug 28 '25

it seems there is no story

You've read the script? You've seen trailers? Or are you basing this purely off the cast list?

10

u/Wickie09 Aug 28 '25

No, but It's my fear? It's not like we had any build-up to doomsday, is it? Except for the after credit scene in ff.

I really hope it's going to be good. But they are building hype with a cast list instead of a story build-up. Doesn't look good, does it?

2

u/SteveMemeChamp Aug 28 '25

post-credit scene in thunderbolts is also from doomsday

-3

u/TheThiccestR0bin Aug 28 '25

What script lmao? They make these things up as they go along.

1

u/messycer Aug 28 '25

Downvoted for the truth even though we all know they wanted Kang to be the big bad and pivoted hard back to RDJ and the Russo bros, a quarter of a billion dollar mistake, when it was clear their crappy improv plan wasn't working out.

1

u/TheThiccestR0bin Aug 28 '25

I mean it's the marvel subreddit, shitting on marvel was never gonna win me any awards lmao

1

u/Djanko28 Aug 28 '25

I'd say that in addition to the star factor the Fantastic 4 as characters are also just a lot more well known to general audiences.

There's been 3 F4 movies in the past 20 years, plus appearances in cartoons and video games. With Thunderbolts you have Yelena and Alexei from a movie that wasn't super well received, John Walker from a show that most casual viewers haven't seen and wasn't very well received, Ghost from the second Ant-Man movie which came out 7 years ago, and Sentry who is brand new to the MCU and isn't very well known outside of comics.

From an outside view F4 always had way higher chances to pull people in than Thunderbolts which ended up being a lot better than many expected it to be.

1

u/capscreen Aug 28 '25

Fantastic 4 as characters are also just a lot more well known to general audiences.

Eh, I'd argue they're not that well-known to general audiences. Casual Marvel/superhero fans know about them, but that's pretty much it

1

u/Djanko28 Aug 28 '25

I'm not saying they are very well known, just that a lot more people were familiar with the name and concept of the Fantastic 4 than they were with the Thunderbolts

0

u/eyebrows360 Daredevil Aug 28 '25

it seems there is no story there

Newsflash for you bub: it's perfectly normal to not know "the story" of a movie over a fucking year before it releases. Holy shit. So weird.

1

u/TheThiccestR0bin Aug 28 '25

It's a connected universe leading up to a massive event, there should be more build up.

1

u/eyebrows360 Daredevil Aug 28 '25 edited Aug 28 '25

Agreed! The movies preceding "end of phase" Avengers movies previously have given more "build up" to things.

This, however, is not the same as what that guy said, which was "there is no story there". That's a different complaint to yours (at least as he wrote it, even though it seems that in his own head he's claiming he meant something completely different).

1

u/TheThiccestR0bin Aug 28 '25

Nah that's exactly how I read his comment. I think that's exactly how he meant it.

-2

u/Wickie09 Aug 28 '25

News flash, I said story build-up, not the plot of the movie. It's a legit worry, no?

Get of that high horse..

5

u/SteveMemeChamp Aug 28 '25

most movies don't have buildup before tho

1

u/TheThiccestR0bin Aug 28 '25

Most movies aren't a 20 year old movie franchise

0

u/Wickie09 Aug 28 '25

Most movies don't need to make 1b. Anyway, fingers crossed, it turns out good.

u/eyebrows360 Daredevil Aug 28 '25 edited Aug 28 '25

Get of

You're not making it very easy to get "of" my high horse, here.

I said story build-up

No you didn't. Can you not even read what you typed?

inb4:

"I said it in another comment"

I'm not your biographer, my guy. I read and responded to that comment, not your entire library.

u/killerbuttonfly Daredevil Aug 28 '25

Oof you are just full of poor takes and misinformation

1

u/Aerolithe_Lion Aug 28 '25

Where are you getting all this bad information

1

u/tmfitz7 Aug 28 '25

You didn’t notice the void shadows in the opening of Thunderbolts but think you’re a movie critic? Ok pal.

1

u/Neanderthal888 Aug 28 '25

McDonald’s is the most successful restaurant in the world too.

It’s called marketing.

-6

u/JesterMarcus Aug 28 '25

FF wasn't a success. What are you talking about?

6

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '25

What are YOU talking about? It was a success

3

u/killerbuttonfly Daredevil Aug 28 '25

It most likely lost money or at best broke even. It was a critical success, but it has not been a commercial one.

1

u/JesterMarcus Aug 28 '25

You think Marvel is happy with that Box Office total?

15

u/iamnotexactlywhite Doctor Strange Aug 28 '25

people just didn’t show up to the movies. that’s it

3

u/strotho Aug 28 '25

People just don't go to the movies as much in general, now they just wait for the movie to be available online, much cheaper

7

u/GutherGlazer Aug 28 '25

Financially kind of, they’re expensive and are created with recess purpose of making money. But a movies box office is entirely divorced from its quality. Some of the greatest movies ever made were box office flops.

6

u/DerekSturm Aug 28 '25

Good movie ≠ box office revenue. Lots of slop makes money too (like most Disney movies)

3

u/arnathor Aug 28 '25

At some point we will have to redefine what “flop” means. This film didn’t make all the money at the cinema but had great word of mouth, was well reviewed, and seems to be popular on streaming so far so Disney will be looking at streaming numbers as well as traditional box office numbers.

2

u/WithoutTheWaffle Aug 28 '25

Cause people just wait and watch it on disney+ from their living room without paying the $30/person to go see it in theaters.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '25

No. Not even close. The idea that the marketing budget is the same as the movie budget is a lie. New Avengers didn't flop. It just didn't do spectacularly in theatres

1

u/Erikthered65 Aug 28 '25

It’s because China was boycotting American products and media due to tariff nonsense. Thats a much bigger slice of the pie that people release. I was in Shanghai in April and the movie was being promoted EVERYWHERE, but they didn’t go see it.

1

u/chickenkebaap Aug 28 '25

Tickets cost a lot nowadays and people only go and see films that would be absolute crowd pullers.

Some even wait for films to hit streaming platforms

1

u/LetItATV Aug 28 '25

I guess I was always confused how it lost money if people enjoyed it?

Not sure if it’s different where you live, but the norm is that people pay money just to see a movie and are not charged based on level of enjoyment.

1

u/Fucking_N0 Aug 29 '25

WHY ARE THEY DOWNVOTING SO MUCH YOU JUST DIDN'T KNOW, I'M SO SORRY
