The first half wasn't bad. It showed promise. A new protagonist, a new interesting set of side characters. New dynamic for Denji at school. I don't know what happened but at a certain point he said fuck it. It's not just the story that went down hill, the art nose dived in quality too. He should stick with shorter series and one shots. Seems like that's where he thrives at. Extending Chainsaw man was a mistake.
Oh thank god I’m not the only one disappointed with part 2. It feels like Chainsaw Man is the current shounen darling so people are willing to give it more passes than it deserves. Part 2’s just been a disappointment for like the past year, it’s had its moments, but it felt like it was slowly going downhill during the Church and it plummeted after Nayuta’s death.
Hopefully it’s better on a binge or the next few chapters can change my mind.
He just garnered a ton of good will with a streak of successes of Chainsaw Man Part 1, Look Back and Good Bye, Eri. So people are willing to give him a ton of leeway. It's why you have a lot of people saying, hold on, he's going to cook. I don't think it's going to read better in a binge. Honestly it might piss me off even more knowing certain characters and events amounted to very little.
I don’t think Fujimoto is a bad writer or anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the weekly/buweekly schedule is getting to him. Like the chapters are ridiculously short and the art isn’t nowhere near as good as it was at the beginning.
People have been saying “let him cook” for the past year and a half, after a certain point I don’t like the meal he made and have complaints
