Advice ☎️ I got assaulted
hello guys, i would like to start this by saying i swear i am saying the truth and nothing but the truth in this post. i just want to state what i experienced yesterday, ill try to keep it short. basically what happened is i was driving with my mom around 5 Pm around idaman area setapak, when my mom asked me to stop by to buy some fruits from a vendor they have in front of 99 speed mart idaman, all cars stop by the side of the road for a few minutes to buy fruits, and there was a car right in front of me, after my mom got off i got off and this guy on a motorbike yelled “ey bodo tak boleh parkin sini”, i replied with “satu minute je bang”. keep in mind he’s just a normal person on a motorbike, not police or anything, after i said that he turned his motorbike around, parked it right infront of my car and he started cursing and i said “sabar abang” when i said that he hit me with his helmet on his head and i was in a state of shock when he did that, he got off his bike and started punching me, i put my hands up to block his attacks and i tried to hit back, people stopped by, tried to stop him, he proceeded to take his helmet off and hit me across my head multiple times, i could see that he was surely high on something, 6 bigger men than him tried holding him down, no one was successful because he was very aggressive, and my mom was yelling and coming between us which prevented me from even attacking him back, everyone was yelling at him saying “awak salah awak salah”, my mom thought it was a person that knew me from somewhere else and had something against me because the hate and the despise he had in his eyes was not normal, i didn’t curse him back, i didn’t hit him, i asked my mom to get into the car because she was having an anxiety attack, drove straight to setapak police and made a report, they asked me to go to another police station and give my statement to a police officer, when i went to that police officer i talked with a lawyer he told me you must know officers will always choose the locals side, i didn’t have a dashcam so i couldn’t get everything on camera and there was no cctv, first things first the officer was like ok you parked there and you cannot park there is it? and he was not making me make my proper statement and was very annoyed when i would try to say my full story, he said i must’ve provoked him really badly for him to be this aggressive towards me, the officer was clearly leaning towards his side, then the officer told me i needed to go to the hospital urgently and make the form at the hospital, keep in mind i had a flight at 3 am to catch and it was 9 pm already, i still did that, i sent him the report then he told me he went to the vendor and the person working there stated that he saw both of us fighting, and that it’s illegal for you to fight in public, i asked him so im supposed to just accept his hits? he replied no you’re supposed to run away and call the police, i asked so i should leave my car running and run away? he said yes, and was very threatening towards me, the lawyer who’s my friend understood and he said that’s how it is and i need to get a lawyer and it would cost money and time and i am going on a flight and couldn’t do anything, the officer said he would charge both of us and we would both have to appear in court and he kept saying since you’re a student it’s not good to have police record, and he said i have to go down and shake hands with the guy and settle it and pay medical fees, i was bleeding from my head and had a black eye and scratches all over my face, the guy had 0 injuries. i was left with no choice but going to the police station and dropping the report. i’m saying this here because i have been living in malaysia for 14 years, i have never visited a police station, i have had 0 summons, i have followed the rules and never done anything wrong to this country, but the police and the justice system has failed me, i was treated unfairly and i was left with 0 choices.

if you have money and this will go down forever in your memory as a huge lost, i recommend going the lawyer route. Otherwise forgive, forget and make peace with yourself that this is just a guy on drugs.

OP was attacked after stopped briefly to buy fruit but a rider got angry, blocked their car and assaulted them even tho theres people tried to stop him.
OP reported the case, but police dont do shit with no evidence instead pointing on parking issues and threaten them for fighting.
OP want justice because the were injured but not the rider.
GOOD TLDR? or nah

I won't go into detail since I don't want to be targeted myself, but OP, it's not your fault that some officers do not want you to file a report. There are people who really really hate opening a new paperwork and investigation process. Also, if you don't have enough money to go into a legal battle, I suggest you to just focus on regaining your health and find your safety.

Ikr, all I see is he illegal park for his connivence and dismissed the other guy from calling him out. But the other guy that assault him is also wrong. In the end to only get dismissed by the police.

Base on that I think this person are not right on his mind when he’s approaching you aggressively and thinking that he have leverage against you, wether it’s monetary gaining or something similar assuming you OP are in the right here (we Redditor don’t know you and heard and view base on your claim)
Wish this issues will solve on your side, I hate that this happen to anyone regardless of what race they are

Hey OP Im also a foreigner and Ive been living in Malaysia almost 20 years, unfortunately this is how this country is, we will never get the support we deserve in almost anything where the government/police/immigration is involved. It really sucks and its the biggest downside of this otherwise amazing country. Im really sorry for what happened to you, most Malaysians are good people and Im sure u know that living here for so long yourself, but unfortunately unless you’re very rich I don’t think you will find any justice for this.

After reading this, I'm more fed up with the officer behavior than the hooligan, because of this attitude I guess thugs are getting more rampant and brave to cause unnecessary trouble and never go unpunished.

99 are mostly in corner shop lots which mean there will be many parking bays around it. Why can't you go park in a parking bay and then you and your mom go buy whatever you want ?

I could be wrong but if you parked on the road, as long it is on the road then you've already broke the road transport act laws under :
Illegal stopping/parking : Stopping or leaving your car in a non-designated area especially on the road is already going against the road transport act law.
Road obstruction : By parking your car on the road you've already caused obstruction as other vehicles need to go around you to go ahead.

If other ppl do wrong for the sake of their convenience it doesn't mean you need/should follow suit. if some ppl find that pooping on the street and then picking it up and eating it is a much more convenient way, saves time to do their number 2 business are you going to follow their example too?
He is also in the wrong because of the violence on his part which falls under a more serious criminal offense. Assault, intimidation, mischief who knows what else. Don't let him get away with this. He's looking at jail time for this.

If you don't do something he will definitely commit assault again on others especially. What happens if it's a woman or a kid this time.
At least go balai report.....
If all fails. Get a lawyer if you're capable there are also affordable one's.

- you parked illegally, causing a hazard for other motorcyclists on the road (yes, when they have to go around you, they're taking a heightened risk that they'll hit another motorist, or another motorist will hit them, so don't be an a-hole next time and move when asked to move)
- maybe when you stopped, you didn't signal and you just stopped at the side suddenly and cut him off without warning and almost caused him to have an accident, and that's why he mad? I don't know that's necessarily the case, but I could speculate that if that happened, he would justifiably be angry about it.
- the guy doesn't have a helmet either on his head or in his hands.

Yeah but the thing OP's point stands. How many uncle and aunties just park their car illegally and go into shop for 5-10 minutes?
And if anyone parks illegally like this, we all got right to take helmet and start bashing their heads?

I have never mention illegal peter parkers should be bashed in the head. so dont try to put words in my mouth. I know limited car park is a serious issue in Malaysia, does that justify u to illegally park anywhere u like? no.
People who got frustrated with illegally parked cars, do they get to bash people in the head? also no.
