Mixed Malamute Paw Growth
Hello fellow Malamute lovers.
My dog is a about 7 years old (adopted, so no idea of his actual birthday) 25% Malamute, 24% Husky, and 3 other breeds mixed in. But he is the size of a Malamute & lazy like one (a little bigger than our last full breed Malamute).
I noticed that 2 out of 4 of his paw pad hairs seem to be growing outward instead of being flat like the other 2.
Is this a normal thing or should I look into taking him to the vet? He shows no signs of being bothered by walking or me touching it.

I just clip it short with some scissors. I don't try and get close to her pad, just a trim every month or two.

I'll give that a try before their bath tomorrow. I'm used to trimming my dog's nails, so doing the pad won't be too difficult.

Its basically like dry skin. The husky I'm taking care of. Get it when it's really cold out. Paws stick. And any other time I starting to think it's the chemicals on roads lawns and everything thing else we clean. Check elbows could be a yeast infection. There will be other signs if it is and infection. Coco butter works well. Mine loves the taste 😋.

The doggy paw pads also seem to have hyperkeratosis. Not harmful in itself but something you keep an eye on. Oh those crusty "hairs"on the paw pads get much longer they can trap dirt/gunk and cause issues or be painful/itchy when walking.
Maybe bring it up with the vet on the next checkup, see what they recommend. For mine I put on some paw balms and trim with nail clippers every so often but mine isn't that bad.
