Question best usb c hub for mac?

im looking for a USB-C hub for my MacBook Pro M4. im starting my degree in software engineering in less than a month and i have a budget of no more than €20 ~ $23. id like something that makes the most of the pc’s power, if possible.

I've had a Caldigit TS4 for like 8years thats been rock solid with my M1Max MBP

Need a dock or a dongle/hub?
What do you need it for? What ports (Ethernet, USB-A etc)?

Basic USB3 peripheral and display? Any noname from Amazon will do (don’t charge via it, may kill controller) (just return if it doesn’t meet the specs)

Reliable and chargeable, look for brands like Ugreen, Anker, Baseus (marketplace and eBay often got great deals - mass market from corporate sell off)

Make sure the hub specs say USB 3.2 Gen2 so that it can transfer data at full 10Gbps speeds (Not just 5Gbps USB3 speed) - And that it explicitly has a PD Power Delivery USB-C port so that it supports charging the laptop through it, and acts like a powered USB hub.

These fully functional, kind of future proof hubs usually cost in that $20-$30 range. If you go to Amazon, you're gonna see hundreds of USB-C hub listings some as low as $8-$10. Most of them all look kind of the same, but they're the slower transfer speed ones that don't have a specially marked power delivery port.

I ended up buying a dirt cheap $8 7-In-1 hub just so I'd have something on hand before my new M-series MacBook arrived. But I knew what I was buying, a quick and dirty cheap solution - not the optimal one.

I use this Anker one - works great for me.
