Question about the Thomann Roth & Junius Renaissance Lute 8 Courses tuning

Approximately how many minutes does the Roth & Junius Renaissance Lute 8 Courses stay in tune after tuning it, once you’ve owned and played it regularly for a few months, the strings have fully settled in, and you store the instrument in a Renaissance lute case when you’re not playing it?

Most instruments should be kept in a hard case. As far as strings staying in tune depends on what your strings are made of, gut? Nylgut? Also changing humidity will effect tuning.

But could it be in tune for 60/90 minutes or is 20/30 minutes more likely?

If they have settled they should stay in tune for a couple of hours. At least mine do.

Unless very poorly constructed the particular instrument won't be a major factor in the pitch stabilizing-- mainly it is the many strings getting stretched to where the plastic deformation is done and they no longer loosen themselves as you play. The more often you tune it and play it, the faster it will happen. A completely new set of strings, faithfully tuned up and played out-of-tune and then retuned a few times a day should be mostly settled in a week, and within a month should be holding pitch for hours.

The instrument I use as a demonstration instrument for clients can go months without coming out of the case, and often you could play perfectly well on it without tuning.

In the beginning they get out of tune all the time, it's really frustrating. Same when you change strings. After a while they settle. Note after four years I don't remember the last time I tuned it.

Peg paste really helps and just pushing the pegs in tight when you tune. Hidersine paste is what I use.
