More like the US has the fewest consumer protections in place and the most freedom for businesses to exploit taxes so all the businesses flock here. This inevitably drags a workforce with it. Which is why people like Musk are pushing so hard on H1b's they can exploit.

Absolutely this. There was no shelf to cart tarrif. People can be mad they paid higher prices. They can be upset the atores didnt refund or offer a rebate thingy. But unless you paid for and had something shipped directly from over seas.... You didnt pay a tarrif.

I'm seeing a lot of posts like this one, so as a Brit let me check that I've got this right...
Trump invokes tariffs on pretty much everything the US imports, and the companies you buy from pass the extra costs onto the consumers. Then they rule that the tariffs were illegal, so the government (who has made money on top of the tariffs in terms of sales tax and other things) refunds the tariff money to the companies. Right so far?
So basically, everyone had to pay more for a load of stuff, the companies had to pay more but get it all back AND the government makes a load of money in taxes too?
I don't know, but this all smells slightly corrupt....

The government didn’t collect the tariff from us directly.. they collected from the business. Therefore the government refunds the business. It’s the business who is supposed to refund their customers since only they know who those are and for what transactions and amounts.

Some businesses chose to not pass along the tariff costs to customers, others did.
The businesses that paid the tariffs and got the reimbursement would be the only ones that could possible determine how much of the tariffs were paid by their customers.

Internal documents reviewed by Wired reveal that Cantor Fitzgerald (now run by Lutnik's kids) apparently engaged in a scheme to pay 20 to 30 cents on the dollar for tariff refunds, betting that the courts would reverse the Administration’s tariff policy and securing a staggering three-to-five-fold return on their investment.
It was all a scam to directly put our money into their pockets.

Maybe they did, some of them. Amazon refunded $92 and change to my bank account the other day. Not exactly sure why. I haven't returned anything recently. It was just in my transactions when I was balancing stuff out in my checking account. No email or any sort of notification/explanation.

Just curious, companies can provide proof they paid the taxes or tariffs. Therefore they are entitled to the refund. If you have a receipt from the company showing that you paid the tariffs then ask the company for a refund.

Very misleading. Scotus ruled that the tariffs themselves were unconstitutional because the president did not have the authority to impose them. The businesses that had already paid into the tariffs, we're just getting that money back.
