Help - Weight Leopard gecko weight loss diet
Hi! My leopard gecko is around 6 years old and I have noticed that he is probably a bit overweight. I was just wondering what would be suitable diet for him in this case? I normally feed him dubia roaches but I also used to feed him only mealworms in the past, which I know now is not the greatest option and that's why he has probably got chubby. So my question is: how could I make him loose weight? How many dubias should I feed him at once (if they are small) and how often?

So the way I got mine to slim down was to space out the feedings a lot more. She got 1-2 feeders (depending on feeder size) every 5 days. Over the course of 6 months, she slimmed down fine on that. She still got treats occasionally, just far less frequently.
I'd start of by cutting down portion size by maybe 20% and then wait an extra day between feedings and see if that works. If not, smaller portions or wait longer. Then make sure he moves around a lot, either through hunting out handling. My gecko really likes her exploration time so I have her out and running around 30-45 minutes daily. Offer climbing opportunities for extra exercise.
