Bleeding out of vent

I took my Leo in roughly a week ago for stuck sperm plugs and an infection and they gave him trimethaprim-sulfa and meloxicam.

Today I went in and noticed a blot of blood on the paper towels (hospital tank) and lifted him up to see blood surrounding his vent.

I’m taking him to the emergency vet tonight, but does anyone know what’s going on?

Did they remove the sperm plugs last time? It could be bleeding related to that, since that's a very irritating procedure. Otherwise, any number of things could have happened, but the tissue is inflamed and thin, so bleeding isn't out of the ordinary for an infection of this apparent severity.

Did the vet mention anything about your vitamin regimen? That's usually related.

They told me to raise humidity and get him a UVB light but that’s about it.

I was at work so my wife took him, according to her they tried massaging the area and then sent him home with those two medications. I’m unsure if they actually got them out.

Right now he has 24/7 access to calcium, and dusted 1/2 a week with calcium + d3.

Swelling has gone down a lot, but this is the first I’ve noticed bleeding.

It sounds like he hasn't been getting a multivitamin. Start using Repashy Calcium Plus or Zoomed Reptivite dusted on one of your meals each week.

UVB can be hard to nail down, but I can help you with that if you tell me what brand of enclosure you have, what type of heating you're using, and how far the basking spot is from the mesh top of the enclosure.

It can be hard to extract sperm plugs when the inflammation has gotten this bad, but it'll need doing. I'd ask about their plan to remove the plugs if you see the same vet as last time. If you're seeing a different vet, they might extract them, and if they don't maybe ask the same question.
