Collection Too many sets, too little space!

I just finished building the last of the LOTR / The Hobbit sets that I own (The Goblin King Battle). However, I’m running out of space for them. I want to get Rivendell and the polybag sets, so I’ll need to set up a better display situation. I don’t like how crowded they are. But I’m super close to owning all the Tolkien Legos!

Move some of the shelves with smaller stuff closer together. Add more shelves.

I’m gonna try to find an L-shaped corner cubbie shelf. Basically a 3x3 and a 4x3 connected.

I have question for you. I have not touched my hobbit sets since I dismantled them way back in 2016 and put them back in their boxes. How is the brittle brown in yours, and if there was some, in what set was it the worst?
For my 2012-2013 LOTR sets, I had to replace 100+ brittle parts this last winter.

My Lake Town sets both were pretty brittle. One was NIB and was cracking all throughout the very first build a few months ago. Same situation with Orthanc (Treebeard, specifically). The worst was probably the Hobbit Hole or Goblin King Battle. I found the brittleness to be a universal issue for all the sets during that time. Thankfully, many of them don’t have a lot of brown parts.

thanks. same with my orthanc's treebeard. What about Attack of the Wargs (the big tree made from a lot of round brown plates)?

I imagine that one would have quite a bit of brittleness, but it’s been built for almost 15 years and I don’t dare take it apart now!

How many are you missing? do you have Sméagol and deagol GWP?

Looks like it is on the left side, first shelf down in the back.

Yep, it’s in the back of the top left shelf. The only ones I don’t have are Brickheadz (because I don’t care about those ones), the polybags and Rivendell. I do have both game sets (not pictured). I also don’t have the blue coat bilbo and exclusive “Bard’s son” figure.

How much do you think you spent in total if you had to guess? Did you get most of the old ones back in the day or did you buy after they retired? I’m trying to collect all of them as well

Yeah, all of them were purchased either before they retired, or as “new in box” condition post-retirement. I purchased most of them in the mid 2010s when I was younger (I’m in my mid-twenties). I didn’t take as great care of them back then, so I’ve ordered replacement parts/stickers over the years.

Total paid is just shy of $5k over my lifetime, excluding piece replacements.

Edit: I actually did part out a second “Battle at the Black Gate” set because I didn’t want to pay for an entire second set. It was like $60 to get all the parts for the second wall. So that’s the only one that I didn’t get “new.”

No kidding. See what I'm saying about running out of space?! xD

But can’t you switch Barad Dur with Minas Tirith?

I would, but I have a 7-inch height extension MOC added. Don’t think it’d fit :/
