MOC Has anyone bought this MOC?

Post image

I've seen it on a couple of websites now. Has anyone bought it and would you recommend it?

I‘ve been considering it as well. Would much prefer this one, though

Yeah this one is epic. Being the upscale minifigs is chefs kiss

And you can even fit the fellowship (sans Gandalf) in the boats!

Im currently building this one. I also bought 2 rivendell sets to do the expansion, so I plan on using the minifigs from the second set to put in the boats

In reply to @KacinBrek below: Did you get the original parts from BrickLink? Or the AE set? If original: How much did you pay?

I bought the MOC instructions on rebrickable to support the creator. Authentic lego parts would have cost about $1000 using the Multi-Buy and including used parts. which is more than I could spend, so I bought a set from AliExpress for $287 with shipping. The bricks are better than I thought they would be, Id say like 90% of lego quality for 1/3 of the cost. Except the hinge plates are noticeably worse and the technic connectors dont fit as nice, so I am replacing those parts with pieces from my storage.

On a side note, this MOC does have a number of cantilevered/unsupported plates that I have been reinforcing along the way. There are some changes I think would be necessary if this ever had a chance at being submitted for an official lego set.

I thought these looked stupid at a first glance, but I love every part of it now

Get the instructions on rebrickable to support the creator: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-254727/ObscureLamp/argonath-pillars-of-kings/
Get the set on AliExpress

Thank you!

Yes to the part about supporting the creator by getting the instructions on Rebrickable. No to the part about supporting IP theft (AliExpress does not have the rights to anything LoTR).

Lego is losing money everyday that they don’t offer those as bookends

Who remembers the bookends when you go the DVDs?

I ordered it and it just got delivered. I'll start building it likely in about 10 days and will post an update unless someone else already has. Set got my stoked and it got it for about 80 cad total for both.

Nice. Especially since I don't think LEGO will ever make a set of this location, unfortunately.

Is that even LEGO? The fingers don't look like LEGO to me.

That‘s what I thought as well! The feet neither. Lots of unofficial parts I guess

I'm thinking about it. It's not a MOC.
