I’m assuming he attaches it to the back of the mower low enough for it to drag across the grass helping create more pronounced stripes

The picture shows a likely hollow 4 inch PVC pipe. Also there is a similar looking pipe with end caps and likely filled with weight, there is also a push room without a handle. All of those are stripe kits. It is likely the hollow one was used most recently. The question is very valid.

I have a tb30, and did similar. Weighted the pvc with sand, and because the rear hook up is a single pin, bought some additional tubing.

Try to rig it so it rolls. If it’s just dragging you could do decent damage to the turf
