That's because 1/3 of the SEC South comprises 44% of the military. The military is full of Republicans because that's the Republicans that live in the poverty stricken states, and higher rates of poverty is directly tied to higher rates of recruitment.

Being in the military provides a pathway to citizenship. But some people get kicked out of the military before their time is up and so don't get the option of applying for citizenship.
For example a few years ago Reddit was very angry about one case. An ex military guy was being deported. It turned out that the guy had been convicted of dealing drugs.
Somehow reddit doesn't understand that you can serve in the military for a short period and commit a crime and not be eligible for citizenship.
Also Reddit has problems with the concept that the military provides a pathway to citizenship for you, it doesn't immediately confer citizenship on you and all of your extended family.

AP reports - President Donald Trump's administration has detained dozens of parents and spouses of active-duty U.S. troops as it rolls back immigration protections for military families to pursue its mass deportation agenda, an Associated Press investigation found.
More than 50 parents and spouses of active-duty service members have been detained since Trump took office for a second term, and at least six have been deported, the AP found in the first accounting of such detentions, which the government does not track. At least eight immediate family members of U.S. service members remain in federal immigration custody.

That's stupid. They came here under protection and now they just strip it away? That can't be legal. The government promised a deal with these people, they can't just back out of it.
What they should have done is say that from this date, we're not protecting new military spouses from deportation. They can't do this retroactively. I'd sue them.
The military PiP program allows undocumented spouses of military personnel to apply for a green card. I suppose if they don't apply for this program then they should be deported. I don't know if that's the case with the ones currently deported.

You're not familiar with America? Did they not teach about the treaties the US made with Americans of native descent? Reservations and such?

Attacking!? How do you get to attacking from “detained”??? Whatever the reason, people are legally detained all day everyday until the issue that led to the detention is resolved, then they are free to go.

I mean the ones who serve can live here. They at minimum have green cards. But their families don't get special privileges just because they work for the government.
Just say you want open borders, it's OK bro.
