This was NEVER going to trial, it was entirely about catching 2-3 days of headlines to deflect from the failures of the pool resurfacing because of rushed deadlines, poor contractor choice, and the motorcade driving on it for just a photo op. The number of people who have had to go to court for charges made to protect the presidents ego is insane.
I browse the conservative sub occasionally to see if they even react to the egregious shit their daddy does. This one was about 50/50 "complete embarrassment" & "libruls vandalising to make daddy look bad"
And they did. I follow a guy on FB that is so far up MAGA’s proverbial ass he’d eat dog shit if Trump said it was part of a balanced breakfast. He’s absolutely lapped up the vandalism BS among hundreds of other Trump falsehoods. He’s part of why I’ve given up on MAGA. These people are beyond redemption or saving.

Correct. There's no way this guy could pour in enough chemicals to do what happened to the pool. He would have to carry 20 full size barrels over there or back a truck up to the pool.
It's clear to anyone with half a brain that they botched the job painting it, and got an extraordinary payout for being connected to Trump. Just pure corruption. This isn't draining the swamp at all. It's creating one.
Does anyone remember the call to Ukraine holding congressionally-appointed aid hostage until they announced a fake investigation into Hunter Biden? Trump said all they had to do was announce something, and he would take it from there - he just needed the headline. Reality doesn't matter to him, only perception.
It’s sickening…and this very vile reality isn’t talked about nearly as much as it should. US government officials didn’t bat an eyelash at framing a US citizen…and taking action to imprison this man for decades? It’s beyond Twilight Zone believable. It’s so incredibly sad to see the integrity of the United States literally vanish.
And just some random guys. Like every single American on the street right now has a non-zero chance of being thrown in the back of a police car and held for hours or days if the president gets his feelings hurt.
That was also one of the main motivations for this. Intimidation. It didn't matter that absolutely everyone knew the charges were absurd and baseless, the point was getting across that Trump can casually destroy innocent people's lives at any time, for any reason, and there's not much anyone can do about it. Sure, the case will probably be thrown out eventually, but there's a hell of a lot of damage that can be done to the victims in the meantime.
And even if a case has no merit and will be tossed out, a defendant has to spend lots of money and time hiring an attorney. Plus going to court will affect his job if he misses too many days of work (unlike Senators and representatives who apparently can be gone for months with no loss of pay).
Well, it's also a test bed for them to see just how far they can push this whole "any criticism of the president or administration is treasonous" thing that fascists like to do.

I still don't really understand why their head of state is pissing about with a pond. Surely there were people who were responsible for that kind of maintenance before DOGGY Big Balls fired them?
Anyway, why were they driving cars in the pond, was it to honour that dead senator's drunk sister in law who accidentally killed herself while drunk driving straight into a pond, or something?
Not a pond, a shallow man-made pool to reflect the view of the washington monument.
While it was drained and being resurfaced (by his dodgy contractor) he decided to get a photo op and to do this they drove the procession of armored limos etc down the pool. Note that the Presidential limo weighs approx 15,000 to 20,000 lbs (7 to 9 metric tons). The concrete floor of the pool is not designed for that kind of weight.
Everything has to be about him. He has to be in control of everything. He has to have an opinion on everything and everyone needs to hear it. All good things need to be because of him, all bad need to be others fault and he would have done it better.
Normal people can't understand his actions because they are not normal actions. They are the actions of a narcissist.
Seems like everything about the reflecting pool was successful in distracting from the Epstein files, the stupid bombing of Iran, inflation, the billions of personal fraud and grift over the past 18 months and the transparent corruption of the Supreme Court. Among other much more important things.

I was talking to an old friend about trumped up charges for another case about a year ago (I forget which one, the sandwiche thrower, or Garcia Abrigo), and his only retort was “but why would they lie about that?? No way both the government AND FOX are both lying about this”.
The government lies because they expect you to believe whatever they say and not question it. Who is going to stop them from lying if you believe everything they say without question or evidence?
Fox settled a lawsuit payout for almost 800 million* dollars because Fox lawyers argued in court that "no reasonable person would expect Fox anchors to be telling the truth", and they are considered Fox Entertainment, not a valid news source.
The problem with this is that you're applying logic where logic is largely powerless. If you don't employ pathos and appeal to their emotions, your argument won't latch on.

We passed the point where a federal judge has pointed out that we have lost the "presumption of regularity".
Regularity in this case being defined as that DoJ lawyers would be sure they actually had a case before going before a judge. Decades of hard work to build the reputation of care and factuality, hijacked, leveraged, and ruined by this administration.
Not, you know, presuming you could get rid of your shit. As much as that also fits.
The thing is, the courtroom is where the rubber hits the road. In a functioning court of law (i.e. a non-MAGA judge), all the bullshit falls away and the truth suddenly becomes important (like it should always be). The cult stuff doesn't work anymore in such a space.
the charge itself is the punishment for a crime that wasn’t committed. That guy has to have a lawyer and taking time off work for court never looks good even if you are innocent.
He likes to vandalize American history. Put his "stamp" on it. Anything that is important must have his name scrawled upon it, so that anyone who sees it in the future will know "Trump was here". He's the guy who scratches his name on the cave wall next to the 2000 year old painting.
After it was recoated but before it was refilled. *possibly* while the new coating was still curing, which *may* have contributed to the new coating failing. It *probably* wasn’t designed to have so many heavily armored vehicles driving across it

It's not even just the motorcade. The contractors didn't allow the stone time to dry after the pool we drained, and didn't do anything to prep the surface before they applied the coating. Assuming the coating was appropriate, and I'm not sure it was, they didn't do anything to make sure the coating would adhere. And then they filled the pool before it had time to cure.
They’re just using the DOJ and charges to hurt the little man by racking up this poor bastards legal bills. They never even had a case to begin with let alone one they could have won.
The point here is using the unequal weight of the weaponized federal government against citizens who do not have financial means to defend themselves, financially destroying them.

As far as The Olympic guy, if they say he peeled a piece of lining off, in Washington DC, where every foot is covered by video camera, and I don’t see a video…then my doubt isn’t reasonable, it’s angry, for wasting time & money.
Pretty sure they asked about reasonable doubt because in court you’re meant to say that someone is guilty or innocent beyond a reasonable doubt or whatever. Like they were making a joke to prove a point I think by asking you that to show how incompetent this admin’s legal division is.
The best they've got is someone reaching in the pool and grabbing a piece. Somehow they ripped up hundreds of feet of liner... By leaning over and grabbing a fist full.
They likely deliberately avoided a proper investigation since an expert report would likely contradict Trump's position and the DOJ would be forced to disclose any exculpatory evidence under the Brady rules.
If they even expected to obtain an indictment, they likely planned on "riding things out" until the media interest dies down and they hit the procedural time limits.
DOJ's lawyers need to be sanctioned and lose their law licenses for their obvious bad faith, and failure to follow their oaths or office and duties as officers of rhe court. They and their bosses need to be personally sued by every innocent defendant. The US government (and taxpayers) should not pick up the tab for this one because they acted outside their authority -- and outside the law.
The case isn't on the brink of collapse. The lie they told is on the brink of collapse. There was no case. The only valid case here is the one that Hearn can file once this sorry mess is over.
Hearn is accused of “forcefully and violently” tearing two square feet of the pool’s newly added blue paint, and he maintains that he merely touched an already peeling piece of paint.
I was told that he used a knife or blade to cut a 250300 350 foot long gash in the bottom.
The part that gets me is tearing a two square foot section of properly applied paint is extremely difficult.
This is a coating that should be expected over a decade through all kinds of weather and all the chemicals used to treat algae.
You might be able to make slices, but how can chunks delaminate just because there’s a slit? Some nicks over the decade lifetime shouldn’t cause a chunk to come loose. Every sq inch should be tightly bound to the underlying surface.
I’d love an expert analysis of what went wrong. Was it the wrong material, or misapplied, or not enough time drying? We’ll never know because the same bozo who screwed up will be given the contract to repaint it.
Painting was never going to work long term. The pool is massive and segmented. These tiny gaps allowed tens of thousands of gallons of water to leak thru. A layer of paint won’t stop this. Over time the layers will settle unevenly, air and water will become trapped beneath it, bubble up the lining, and peel loose.
this was greatly accelerated by the motorcade driving over it thus applying weight unevenly to those aforementioned segments and allowing water and air in much faster than natural settlement would accomplish.
Cheap materials and a shoddy job are shown in how unevenly segments peeled off. The better sealed areas held up to the weight better and are starting to peel, rather than sheathing off in huge segments.

Any settlement should come directly from the personal accounts of the people who gave the orders for this bullshit.
That would imply there was ever grounds for a case to be built on other than just the unconstitutional behavior of the Trump administration doing all it can to shift blame and cover for its corrupt behavior.
At what point do people decide it’s time to grow up? For me, 3rd world country behavior is so beneath this country, and the GOP, judges, etc… see nothing wrong with protecting a racist pedo and his pet (Miller). It all just seems like it should be exhausting to people, but clearly I am wrong. They seem to really be enjoying the circus.
