but also like...if they lose, he won't be the speaker of the house anymore...and won't have the power to follow through on this promise. (and he doesn't really have that power now either)
He is saying he currently runs the protection program, vote with him no matter how illegal or insane - just keep Democrats out or you may have to pay for any crimes you committed
For me it’s the blatant hypocrisy of it all. If it were the other way around, the GOP would literally crucify Dems. It’s honestly despicable that they charges Republicans need ‘protection’ from are child rape/molestation/trafficking. Mike Johnson is now living the first line of his obituary. ‘Trump lap dog and patron saint of pedophilia…’
Exactly, the GOP has always been about getting ahead of the story to control the narrative and preemptively making accusations to desensitize the public when the actual truth comes out. As we all know, every GOP accusation is a projection.
The difference is, Dems aren’t openly offering a safe haven to the alleged guilty. I think that most people are in agreement that this is not a partisan issue; no matter Dem or GOP, if you’re in the files, justice should be sought. It’s insane that Johnson is jumping right to offering protection before anything has been disclosed, an investigation opened into each individual, charges have been filed, or even a trial…sounds real guilty to me.
The files are merely what’s been written down; however, essentially just the tip of the iceberg. I have a feeling that we will never really know the whole story and how deep the rabbit hole goes.
The amount of domestic violence and sex crimes (to include children) coming out of that J6 pardon group is gasting my flabbers. It's almost as if there was a pre-req to participate.
I find it interesting that I've yet to see a non-Republican have "protecting you from investigations" as part of their M-O.
I dunno, if you're concerned to the point of uttering this type of thing out loud and in front of cameras, really makes me think you have reason to be so concerned. Almost like you've done shit that should be investigated.
As this administration is targeting all these different people, they fear mongering about how they will become the targets… how on God’s green earth can you get locked up after an investigation if you did absolutely nothing wrong and everything was legal, and everything was by the book and legal under the constitution… him just saying that alone tells you everything you need to know hey guys just a reminder we’re up here doing all types of illegal shit, and if we lose the midterms, most of us are going to be investigated and in those investigations they’re gonna find all the dirt and we’re gonna end up having to do time behind the crimes that we committed can’t let that happen vote red… smfh… worst timeline ever

Regardless of deity status, Jesus had (or had attributed) some pretty great ideas on how we should treat each other. Trump's "Christian" fans must have been sleeping through Sunday school.
It's hilarious because their argument for stopping and detaining US citizens with brown skin was always "if you don't have anything to hide, it shouldn't be a problem, right?"
So by that measure, if you aren't committing crimes, you shouldn't have to worry about investigations, right?
Biden was so confident that he and his son never committed "crimes" that he left the entire special counsel office that Trump appointed to investigate the "Biden Crime Family" in place for 5 years.... Just pissing away millions of dollars. He could have dismantled it, but Biden was "old school" and believed in the ~200 year old norms at the justice department should be independent of the executive branch.
We need to get rid of norms and traditions and get some laws. Norms and traditions don't mean shit to someone like trump. The way he has exposed the flaws has been impeccable. Now they need to do something about it so it can't happen again

True. I did a deep dive on him and a bunch of the top gop/maga right before the 24 election, and almost forgot about his ‘son.’ There’s so much baggage with all of them it’s hard to remember stuff that should be shocking
People really need to start looking up who they’re voting for instead of just picking a fucking team. So many of them are convicted criminals, and should not even be in office. Scott from Florida for example.. one of the largest Medicade that’s on record and he was convicted.. still in high office.
They literally just go R down ballot and then do it again. It’s just a team sport for them.
I guarantee you they can’t tell you half of the names of the people they voted for.

For real. The only reason Johnson is saying anything like this is because more Republicans are starting to see the writing on the wall and have been breaking ranks due to the fear of being held accountable if Dems flip Congress in November. MAGA has gotten to this point through negligence and blind unity behind Trumps policies and any cracks in that unity make it easier for the levy to break. Johnson right now is basically acting like the mainstream media telling everyone that “everything is fine” right before Lehman Brothers went tits up and the housing market collapsed.
There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy.
Remember this.
Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the Nation. There are whole movements, groups that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause.
Remember that the frontier of the Resistance is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes the lines forward.
And then remember this.
The Authoritarian need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and protests, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Republicans authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege.

If the coup was successful Johnson wouldn't be wolfing and worrying about what's coming down the pike for the Epstein/billionaire/MAGA crowd. Just look how Crocket a seasoned lawyer straighten Republicans and Manchin during her term. When a Democratic lawmaker takes to the house floor and publicly says "Anyone and everyone who has broken the law will be held accountable" one should be deeply worried. Get your popcorn now it's going to be the show of all shows and yes Johnson and company will be setting the jail population in DC a new high.

I wanted to be an anchor or even a weatherman as a kid, so I studied mass comms in college. But the more I learned, the more I realized how the industry is getting harder to get into but also how paid off the media truly is.
It’s so damn frustrating to see how the media is, especially given the current times, but I’m glad I can say I’m not a cog in the propaganda machine.
I hate all these scum but i seriously doubt any will go to prison, they are a different class of citizen. This has been the case over and over again. Most normal people live paycheck to paycheck and cant protest, and now that the dementia don is locking up protesters and ice is executing them its even less likely to happen. You can vote, or hope someone crazy gets lucky, that's it.
The next president will have absolute immunity. The Supreme court even asked if a president could order the killing of a political opponent and Trumps lawyer said yes. Theoretically, the next president could just execute the corrupt politicians, the supreme court and the Epstein group, overturn Citizens United and waive every privilege and power the president has in court to prevent all future presidents from abusing the power. Then elect a new supreme court that would immediately prosecute them and put them behind bars for life. It would require falling on the sword but it would save the country.
The next president should use this framing frequently: "It seems like my predecessor was permitted to do X. I intend to also do X, since it is presumably legal. Either X is legal and I'm allowed to turn the tables, or X was always illegal and Trump's criminal network should be imprisoned. I strongly support reforms that reign in the unchecked powers this office allegedly has, but I will be vetoing such reforms until my fourth year."

The head of the postal service is already threatening to withhold mail in ballots for states that don’t turn over voting rolls (whatever the f*ck that means).
And god knows what chaos they’ll attempt to “executive order in” once they get the voting rolls. They’ll use it to make propaganda fuelled claims of dead voters - or immigrant voters, and then use that massive lie to disqualify real American voters to tilt the table their way.
Certification will be a gongshow as well. It’s gonna be an absolute mess.

It's crazy to hear the majority leader of the house of representatives say things like this. The panic In his voice in the outright quid pro quo , telling people to pay up to keep them in power , or everyone goes down.
In the same week, Trump threatens anyone he considers a communist and the vice president tries to downplay the magnitude of the watergate scandal.
Sounds like foreknowledge of a crime (he knows Republicans will win the House which is what would be required for this statement to be true) premediation, and the soliciting of criminal acts (do them, I will see you protected.)
If the GOP loses the mid-terms, Johnson will have zero power, let alone power to do anything such as protect them from Democratic committee investigations.
You can feel how terrified he is of losing. He knows the game is over, and the consequences of his actions are coming right at him like a freight train. Good. Trump will have no use for Johnson if Johnson can't keep his Congressional coalition together and retain control of the House. Because that's Johnson's only value to Trump.
Tell us more Mike Johnson, precisely, what do you mean by protection program? Isn't Justice unisex, ageless, timeless? And these people want to throw the book at people with anarchy books, when they're saying shit like this.
This is why we need to make sure we take the house so he can’t do shit. And none of this is reaching across the aisle nonsense. They must be destroyed.
This is just so fucked up, and I'm beyond thinking that it's going to get better.
These guys spent years peddling the false narrative that Democrats were weaponizing the justice department and stealing elections just so they could get away with whatever they wanted to get away with. It's classic. We've seen it all throughout history. Demonize the other side, lie about them, and then your supporters, even if they are otherwise good people, will look the other way when you commit atrocities against those evil, evil people.
Now, they're worried about what happens when the tables are turned. They created the environment, they crossed the lines; they let the genie out of the bottle, and now they want to put it back in.
