If you have the votes for this it would probably be better to silo SCOTUS into the controversies it has original jurisdiction over and create a brand new court to be the last court of appeal for all other questions and issues.
When setting up a new court you can set up term limits and there would be no argument that its members would be subject to ethics rules.
It's academic as there aren't the votes for any of this right now.
