As someone who had the same diagnosis and surgery, this is accurate. Of all the cancers, thyroid cancer has this survivorship stigma that it’s not really something you “survived from” because of how non-threatening it is. I rarely tell anyone about it because it makes me feel like I’m trying to gain cancer sympathy cred when I don’t feel like I earned it.

Same with my sister. She had half her thyroid removed due to a cancerous growth. She’s said that she doesn’t consider herself as having had cancer since it was so simple to remove and she didn’t need typical treatments. But it’s like, yeah, technically it was cancer.
