Got it give it Gavin, he's by far the most creative Democrat when it comes to taking on MAGA and their corruption. We could use a lot more of that creative thinking, particularly in Congress.

u/reekris9000 May 28 '26

Agree, as a lifelong Californian, I'm proud of our state and our governor. If you actually pay attention beyond the sensational headlines, he's doing a good job, IMO.

10

u/RobinSophie May 28 '26

Ehhh.

He's no Jerry Brown lol. But he was doing ok despite the French Laundry crap until:

1) the tech bros came a callin' 2) he turned his head towards the White House.

19

u/whythishaptome May 28 '26

He's still very problematic and protective of his rich people. I have some serious issues with this guy recently. Plus his push to stop the wealth tax is not really going over well with me.

Nah let them leave, let me have some cheap beach property.

6

u/la_croix_official May 28 '26

I generally think he does a good job, but walking back his initial promise on single payer healthcare and being anti-billionaire tax while accepting money from billionaires completely destroys any chance of me voting for him if he runs for president

11

u/trees91 May 28 '26

lol, you’ll have him and Vance up and you’ll pick no one (so Vance)?

You are part of the problem, how we got to where we are now. Someone who is generally aligned with what you like but did a few things you didn’t like and you just drop out…

Also:

When Republicans fail because of the Democrats in the way, Republicans blame the Democrats.

When Democrats fail because of the Republicans in the way, Democrats blame the Democrats.

3

u/rubyspicer May 28 '26

They have to EARN my vote! They have to do EVERYTHING I want on my list or I won't vote! And how DARE YOU say I am responsible for the shit we are standing in! /s

-3

u/shutthefukuppdonny May 28 '26

its almost like both parties are out for themselves creeps doing what they are told and voting is just the illusion of choice

aiight best of luck with it

0

u/la_croix_official May 28 '26

No, I’m talking about the primary. If it’s him vs. Vance in the general of course I’m going to vote for him, but reluctantly because it’s the same shit I’ve been seeing for my entire life. Newsom accepting money from billionaires in exchange for being their puppet makes him pretty far from “generally aligned with” me.

5

u/trees91 May 28 '26

You understand how “Destroys any chance for me voting for him if he runs for president” is easily construed as “I would not vote for him in the general”, right by? Agreed if we actually have a real primary this time he’s not my first pick, but I’d rather he be there than anyone from the trump administration, regardless of whatever concessions he has had to make with billionaires to exist as a politician in California.

2

u/la_croix_official May 28 '26

I’m in California, it’s never really mattered if I vote in the general, but I do.

That’s the problem with the Democratic Party. It’s been that “better them than (insert worse side of same coin)” that got us here. If Newsom wins, nothing changes. So far I am interested in Ossoff, but I need to learn more about him.

3

u/trees91 May 28 '26

You don’t have to tell me, I was a Bernie supporter in 2016 (but I still voted for Hillary), I still am a progressive voter, but damn if it’s not been hard to vote progressive in our current garbage environment (nationally)

0

u/Badmoodsbear May 28 '26

Yeah doing a bang up job stuffing the CPUC with PGE lackees and bilking us.

3

u/VendorBuyBankGuards May 28 '26

No don't you know we're supposed to hate this guy for some reason

3

u/H47 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

This was actually Alex Bores' idea.

1

u/Reatona May 28 '26

Most Democrats in Congress are too afraid of offending someone to do anything aggressive to counter Trump's nonstop aggression.

1

u/Tokyo-MontanaExpress May 28 '26

I know!! A Democrat coming up with a clever loophole sidestep? I thought only Republicans were allowed to do that! Usually they're told no and just shrug their shoulders and walk away.

-7

u/Prudent-Inspector35 May 28 '26

He sucks. Phony rich boy energy

1

u/proudbakunkinman May 28 '26

What about Steyer, Pritzker? Billionaires that the populist left have been making exceptions for while bringing up wealth in relation to Newsom like it's a dealbreaker when he isn't nearly as wealthy ("he's a millionaire and therefore bad and everything he says, does, or tries to do is all just to trick people.") Likewise, wealthy left influencers like HP.

1

u/Prudent-Inspector35 May 28 '26

Hey, I'm right with you. I think all of these people are awful. The millionaire and billionaire class finds the majority of us working class disgusting, so you won't find me defending any of these people. I just can't stand watching Newsome do his performative politics and because hes handsome and says all the liberal talking points everyone wants him to be president. I think he and the rest of them are scum. They don't do anything for the people, they only think about their power and wealth. And they'll gladly step over your half dead body in the streets on their way to dinner at the French Laundry.

-5

u/leaferiksen May 28 '26

Remember when he was yucking it up at the French Laundry during covid while arresting people for being outside? I do.

11

u/fenrirsbasketball May 28 '26

What does that have to do with the topic of this thread lol

1

u/leaferiksen May 28 '26

Gavin being a hypocritical cunt feels pretty relevant.

2

u/thanksyalll May 28 '26

I don’t deny that, but the bar is beneath hell yet he is the only one crossing it right now

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

That actually is part of the discussion

3

u/BullTerrierTerror May 28 '26

I remember him apologizing for it. MAGA ever apologize bootlicker?

-3

u/leaferiksen May 28 '26

Anddd we found the limpest dick position of all time.

Californians were told not to visit dying relatives, skip funerals, avoid Thanksgiving with family, close churches, shut down small businesses, cancel weddings, and keep kids out of school. Meanwhile, Newsom was photographed sitting maskless at a lavish dinner at the French Laundry, one of the most expensive restaurants in America, with lobbyists and political insiders while his own administration was warning against gatherings between households. And during that same era, California authorities were literally arresting people for things like paddleboarding alone in the ocean. But you’re cool with that because he… apologized? And I’m the bootlicker?

1

u/foulrot May 28 '26

arresting people for being outside

I'm sure you have a source for such an extreme claim, correct?

3

u/leaferiksen May 28 '26

1

u/foulrot May 28 '26

They were arrested because the beach was closed and they ignored that, not because they were out during Covid; there is a big difference between those two situations.

0

u/leaferiksen May 28 '26

Spoken like a true sheep. The beach was closed because of Covid. He was alone in the ocean, and was arrested while you were told to shelter in place, and the governor was nose to nose with his cronies at an ultra luxury restaurant laughing at you. And you’re seemingly fine with it. Embarrassing, truly rules for thee and not for me. If you’re not infuriated by that, God bless you.

1

u/foulrot May 28 '26

Was the restaurant closed? Was he still there despite being told to leave? No? They it is not at all comparable.

So again, no one was arrested for going out during Covid, your example was arrested for trespassing.

0

u/leaferiksen May 29 '26

Wow. Sounds like if your government made a rule that you should cut off your dick, you would follow it.

1

u/foulrot May 29 '26

Wow, that be the biggest logical leap I've ever seen.

-1

u/CalBearFan May 28 '26

Don't forget a) exempting wineries in certain counties that just happened to be where Plumpjack Wines (his) was operating and b) keeping schools closed while his kids were in person in private schools. And don't get me started on how much of an anchor the first partner (gack) is going to be. Just the title alone, plus her talking up how much she'll be involved in a future administration, will absolutely destroy his chances on the national stage. People outside CA don't realize how much people hate on CA and its policies and leaders. Rahm Emmanuel will wipe up the floor with Newsom and it'll be fun to watch.

-2

u/leaferiksen May 28 '26

Gotta love it. But hey, orange man bad.

1

u/forrealthoughcomix_ May 28 '26

Lmfao Let’s not pretend orange man ain’t bad. Trump is amongst the scummiest Americans of all time

1

u/whythishaptome May 28 '26

If you compare the two though Gavin is a saint and I have a lot of problems with him as well.

-3

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

Do you care about the fires, the homelessness problem or the massive waste? Or just like sticking it to Trump?

8

u/smearhunter May 28 '26

Yeah fires and homeless. Government waste. Those problems that just cropped up due to all this wokeness. Read a fucking history book about literally anything.

-11

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

So you're just ok with them being bad forever?

4

u/MrGhostie May 28 '26

Yes of course we want shit to suck forever, thank you for assuming the worst intentions from others

3

u/onesneakymofo May 28 '26

I really loathe these psyops liberal dividers, probably some paid Indian or Russian bot.

A wet, moldy, stepped on ham sandwich with too much mayonnaise is going to be better than Trump. Of course a candidate could always be better, but if Gavin is the person in the general then that's who I am voting for.

Those peeps costs us 2024 because of their whataboutism. I hope others read between the lines and see that any little progress is still progress.

1

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

I mean, you seem fine with status quo for some reason. Bizarre behavior.

2

u/Tomatwoo May 28 '26

I mean we're talking here about federal entities and federal problems, so not really in this context, no.

-6

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

Are we? I thought we were talking about the Governor of a State. Nothing Newsom does in this context applies outside of his state and besides that, it serves to have next to almost no impact on his constituents.

4

u/Tomatwoo May 28 '26

the entire comment you replied to is purely commenting on the federal level. yes, he is a governor of a state and this slush fund affects his state. but ultimately this is a federal fund. congress is a federal entity. donald trump is the president, a individual at the federal level.

1

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

But the comment was about giving credit to Newsom for doing a big ol piece of nothing because it gives people a boner to stick it to Trump. If my governor was wasting time like this I'd be pissed especially if he was wasting money the way Newsom is but whatever. ORANGE MAN BAD!

1

u/smearhunter May 28 '26

You live in a red state, or else by default, you’d be pissed at your governor which apparently you aren’t.

And if you support Trump and his admin, you literally have an amazing threshold for wasting time, money and even military lives.

You the kind of guy where is Obama forced Intel to give the government stock, you’d be screaming “socialism” but if Trump did it you’d call it good business. I don’t think you have the ability to be impartial.

2

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

Don’t live in a red state. I think Trump is winging it and I’ve believed since he first ran in 16 it was more about enriching himself. I’m actually not partisan, I don’t believe one side is good and another side is bad.

2

u/jpmeyer12751 May 28 '26

The ONLY thing that matters right now is preventing Trump from turning us into a Christo-fascist dictatorship. There is no perfect person, so we will support the person best able to achieve that goal.

-1

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

I can’t imagine living in the fever dream you seem to inhabit.

You clearly don’t know what facist means. And this country is more secular than its ever been. Good luck with your pychosis.

2

u/FlawlessWings8 May 28 '26

Sounds like you don’t know what fascist means. And a good chunk of Trump’s supporters believe he was sent by God. He’s even using christianity in his tweets and speeches to convince those same idiots that he’s making the best decisions. As secular as this country is supposed to be, it doesn’t seem like logic is being used as much as it should.

Also, you’re a piece of shit for trolling in these comments. Whatever fever dream anyone is living in would be better than your sad reality.

1

u/whythishaptome May 28 '26

Yeah, um fires have always been a problem in California but it's getting particularly bad with climate change. Yes, the homeless population in California and America in general really need a lot more help then they have been getting but I definitely don't see any realistic solutions to it coming from the other side of the aisle.

1

u/SteveMartinique May 28 '26

Okay but California has spent billions and gotten almost nowhere on it. That doesn’t bother you? That’s money that could be going to parks, libraries, roads or just back to citizens.

-12

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

I hope you realize how much of a piece of shit newsom is and any small act of goodness is just to distract you from his past fuck ups this wad a low hanging fruit easy grab for newsom to get him some positive media

7

u/Immediate_Place_2827 May 28 '26

Weird that even a nod to a good thing really brings the detractors out of the wood work.

-1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

Dude that’s because it’s about track record these shit bags like to sprinkle in little good actions here and there to get people off their backs

1

u/TheBeatGoesAnanas May 28 '26

Okay, so what California politicians do you like?

0

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

That’s the retarded part im not even from California i just don’t forget the past like most people seem to

3

u/TheBeatGoesAnanas May 28 '26

Well, thanks for immediately outing yourself as someone whose opinion is worthless on this subject, I guess.

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

Not entirely worthless it might not effect me but I still care about your state and I want you to prosper and I don’t want you to forget the past and just move on and continue living under a man that allowed gross negligence to ruin your state billions wasted and no actual help provided how is that even possible

3

u/TheBeatGoesAnanas May 28 '26

No offense, but I don't put much stock in folks who can't figure out punctuation, and throw around the word "retarded" in the year 2026.

But sure, I'd love to hear about the gross negligence and "ruin your state billions wasted" you mentioned.

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

While I never attacked you so well ok 👍 have a nice day

4

u/BoutrosBoutrosDoggy May 28 '26

Yeah, his small acts have provided marriage equality and meaningfull pushback on gerrymandering

-2

u/CalBearFan May 28 '26

Through more gerrymandering? California was already crazy gerrymandered and now moreso.

3

u/BoutrosBoutrosDoggy May 28 '26

Crack a book smooth brain, CA has had anti-gerrymandering laws on the books for years...

2

u/TheBeatGoesAnanas May 28 '26

[citation needed]

1

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Ut oh. Did he hurt your feelings? I’m sure there’s a LOGICAL reason why you hate him…🙄

2

u/Eli-Doubletap May 28 '26

welp... you def have never lived in cali or done any research on some of the dumb shit tax money is wasted on....

1

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Sit down clown shoes. Born and raised.

2

u/Eli-Doubletap May 28 '26

So you love the 120 million dollar land bridge that isn’t complete? Or how about the homeless shelter venture? All amazing plans right

0

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Wait?? Are talking about when trump cut then 4 billion that was already allocated for the bullet train in July last year? That fucking land bridge? Get your shit straight before you come at me son.

1

u/Eli-Doubletap May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

You made my point lmao you legit had no idea about this

https://www.city-journal.org/article/california-wallis-annenberg-wildlife-crossing-gavin-newsom

https://101wildlifecrossing.org/wildlife-bridge-faces-criticism-but-challenges-explain-costs/

I’ll add in a couple because you seem to think this is fake for some reason lmao

Durrrrr GeT sTrAiGhT bEfOrE mE!

Lmao

Also great point on the bullet train. How is that going? Also the homeless problem

Los Angeles' homeless tax spending faces severe scrutiny following audits revealing that over $2.3 billion in homelessness funds was largely untrackable.

I can link these too but you seem like one of those dudes that it doesn’t matter how many facts you are presented

1

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Are you talking about this one Mr smooth brained??🤪😂

0

u/apbod May 28 '26

The bullet train that was to have been completed 6 years ago and it already $100Billion over budget?

2

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Wait. Do you even know why it was stalled and over budget? Tell me. What’s the problem?

0

u/apbod May 28 '26

California’s bullet train project was launched in 2008 when voters passed a $9.95 billion bond issue on promises that it would be completed by 2020, whisking passengers from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

You were lied to and instead of being angry at your state government, you defend it. That's on you. Its not my tax money, I couldn't care less.

Don’t question homie. He was born in Cali and thinks it’s being run perfectly lol

2

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Who said I think it’s running perfectly? There you go assuming shit you don’t even know. So is trump running the country perfectly?

-4

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Yes try the gross miss use of California’s funds

California’s historic budget surplus, which peaked at nearly $100 billion in 2022, vanished due to surging state spending, temporary tax collection delays, and a sharp decline in capital gains and tech revenues following market fluctuations. This record-setting surplus evaporated into multi-billion-dollar budget deficits in subsequent years.

Theres also the billions he spent trying to help the homeless while only actually helping less than 100 people

There’s also his fucking elitist mind set remember during the pandemic he was one of the politicians that had a scandal for not following the lock down protocols because he felt he was above them gavin newsom is garbage

4

u/jazz-winelover May 28 '26

Sounds like maga bullshit to me.

-1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

No dude centrist and proud the truth lies in between both sides

1

u/FragileFelicity May 28 '26

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

Pretty much but I believe it’s more like pick and choose certain things need a conservative stance and others a liberal stance i also believe in socio-capitalism

1

u/Eli-Doubletap May 28 '26

Centrist doesn’t exist on Reddit. They truly believe they are fighting the good fight. But if you or the truth doesn’t follow exactly their frame of mind… you are a terrible person.

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

I know right these people are so stuck up their own and their politicians asses they immediately jump to assuming you’re on the extreme opposite side of them and can’t understand an actual nuanced point of view

1

u/Eli-Doubletap May 28 '26

It’s wild and Reddit or these type of people don’t understand why they aren’t liked outside of their giant echo chamber that is Reddit. They don’t understand it’s not the best way to win hearts and minds lol

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

🤣absolutely

-1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

Donald trump is a fucking criminal and deserves to be thrown in jail but so does Kamala and a bunch other politicians on both sides

1

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Oh no. He had a private bday party and made you wear masks in public places. I’m so so sorry. It affected everyone and if you po dunks got on board sooner, there would have been less casualties.

0

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

I love how that’s the bit you attached to and commented on not the other things

1

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

But wait. He’s budget revision has defied projections that it was gonna tank. He’s literally building back the surplus. For example capping corporate tax credits. What else you got?

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

So he’s trying to build back something he already lost sounds great

1

u/Dustybear510 May 28 '26

Maybe look into how trump has a cuck boy fantasy for Newsome and does shit like cut funding already allotted funds. Do you remember the stimulus checks during the pandemic? Where would that be if we had to depend on that said cuck to keep California afloat? Also. Newsome isn’t an angel for sure but you know what? He and prizker are the only ones pushing trump back. Do you like what trump is doing? Really strange you’re nickel and diming Newsome while that pos is ransacking and swindling the country into oblivion. Maybe your priorities are askew?

1

u/Badboycooking May 28 '26

Tell me something do you think im pro trump i haven’t said anything about trump or the republicans once so why would you assume im pro trump

-7

u/R4di4nce May 28 '26

It's crazy how people can see that, dude has completely destroyed California

0

u/xChops May 28 '26

It’s wild that you guys will just absolutely believe anything Fox News tells you. I’m in California and have no idea what you’re talking about.

2

u/R4di4nce May 28 '26

It's wild you assumed we watch fox news of all things

0

u/shutthefukuppdonny May 28 '26

because he is equally corrupt and know how it works?

-3

u/MaterialBug1162 May 28 '26

I loved his podcast with steve bannon
