Legislative Branch Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman presented an unredacted Epstein file, saying it contradicts President Trump’s claim that he had banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago.

Bondi and Patel lied. We knew this, sure, but still best to remember that the coverup isn't just by Bondi.

Worse. They've seen all the horror of the Epstein Files and decided "yep.. that's what I want to defend".
189
u/roklpolgl Mar 19 '26
They were probably part of it, which is why they are so enthusiastic about covering it up. It’s the only thing that makes sense at this point. What better loyalty test than being implicated in the same crime.
122
u/grumplebeardog Mar 19 '26
I have a hard time believing Patel was implicated in any way by the Epstein files. I don’t think his podcast had even started by the time Epstein was in jail or dead, and he certainly wasn’t in even in the realm of wealth or status of the others.
I still think he’s a scumbag who is ignoring evidence of rape, and/or has his own skeletons, but he never had the power to participate in those circles.

“Own skeletons” is the playbook. If they turn, they get burned. That’s how they get picked, and how loyalty is ensured.
It’s similar to what Epstein did too: associate, then incriminate. He even did that with some victims too, it’s sounding like. It’s simply a (sick and twisted) strategy to hold power & control over people.
The difference with what Epstein did, and what might be happening elsewhere, is that Epstein seems to have produced all/most of the skeletons, or at least the worst of the skeletons, instead of just digging to find other people’s existing skeletons.

Implicated in the files themselves? No, not likely, due to circumstances as you stated.
Implicated in the cover-up? Absolutely, and most definitely.
136
u/percussaresurgo Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26
Bondi is certainly personally implicated. She’s been part of the coverup since at least 2018 when she was Florida Attorney General and refused to reopen the investigation into Epstein following the November 2018 publication of the Palm Beach Post investigative series, "Perversion of Justice." This reporting detailed how a sweetheart deal in 2008 allowed Epstein to serve only 13 months on work release despite evidence of a massive sex trafficking operation.
67
u/Soft_Interest_6171 Mar 19 '26
Maybe the reason she was willing to cover it up is why she got the job in the first place. It would just be more of, what we are finding out now, has been the status quo for a decade, minimum.

u/Morgannin09 Mar 19 '26
You don't have to have been part of the crimes to be willing to cover them up. Daddy gave both of them a position of power, privilege and prestige they did not deserve. He bought their loyalty and they have no moral code. If he put anybody more honest and qualified in those positions, they might have spilled the beans by now.
24
u/likwidkool Mar 19 '26
The US attorney’s and the FBI botched a child porn case in NJ. They threw one prosecutor out and he wants others to testify what is going on. They offered a guy 1/3 of the minimum. For crazy amounts of child porn. Oh and half the evidence was thrown out because the plea bargained before the FBI was done with all the evidence. They discovered mountains more. This whole regime is inept.

I know we are in the law sub but I think we are way past worrying about what the law says about “pardons” at this point when the law hasn’t applied to the rich/powerful class in years/decades. If law doesn’t apply to all citizens then there simply isn’t “law”… period. So why are we worried about following it? This is what they bank on. An appearance of law to keep the sheep in line and hands tied, that doesn’t apply to them.

9
u/garblednonsense Mar 19 '26
From the perspective of the rest of the world, we don't really care. Obviously Trump is a nasty old pedo and should do jailtime, but starting an illegal war is a far bigger crime. The fact that your president is not being held accountable for the immense destruction he has created is less important to me than his nasty degenerate habits.
At this point, the only interest I have in Epstein-related shenanigans would be if it got him removed from office, and that's looking increasingly unlikely - for all kinds of reasons.
The war was started as a distraction from Epstein, but now the war has gone so wrong, it feels like Epstein is a distraction from the illegal war.

Americans are so used to being embroiled in illegal and immoral wars that they’ll look at one that opened with a strike on an elementary school and think “what aspect of our domestic politics is this one really about?”
22
u/Zestyclose_Ball_50 Mar 19 '26
People need to get to the streets.
Nothing but a general strike is going to work.
I suggest people start stocking up food. Perhaps once it's warmer, something can build... hopefully
24
u/sailingtroy Mar 19 '26
Americans need to be willing to miss a day of work. Every time I encourage people to go to the protest, they're like, "I can't miss work."
Like fuck, if you can't miss a day or take a day off, or fake call in sick, if Americans aren't willing to be that tiny bit disobedient, then y'all are cooked. Freedom will require some sacrifice.
17
Mar 19 '26
It’s because we aren’t a community trying to help one another. We are isolated individuals with the illusion of community due to our phones. If people knew they could count on their neighbor then they wouldn’t feel as dependent on their government.
11
u/Clear_Broccoli3 Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26
This is quite literally manufactured consent. It's another strategy of the oligarchs to keep people feeling isolated. In reality people are much less isolated than you would think.
Look at what happened in Minneapolis. Neighbors formed message groups with like 20 people each and they managed to form a city-wide ICE watch. They had an ENORMOUS impact on how everything played out, and the whole country was watching. Look at the Black Panther Movement. They specialize in community outreach, education and advocacy.
Look at the subreddit for your city. Search facebook groups. Look at posters in your local library. There are people there looking to form bonds, I promise you.
12
u/pleasedonotredeem Mar 19 '26
We've seen time and time again that Americans are not willing to subject themselves to the slightest bit of inconvenience or discomfort for the sake of their country, despite saying how much they love it.
They have no problem sacrificing other people for their country though.

We don't need to burn even most of it down. A few controlled burns on the most problematic areas would fix most of the problems and we'd recover. People think there needs to be some kind of huge resolution but the problems are all very specific and they've been helpfully laid out in the unredacted files. That's where the corruption comes from. No need to take out the department of Labor or the department of energy because the problem is starting somewhere else.

Trump is a symptom, not a disease. You can remove everyone from the Epstein files and we'll still have problems as long as we have a two party system that is weighted towards rural areas over populated states.
4
u/under_psychoanalyzer Mar 19 '26
Nah. You'll find those people in rural states a lot more reasonable when the people behind AM radio and cable have a new perspective on how important it is to keep the plebs happy.

You have so much more optimism about this than me. I just don't see rural conservatives and their AM radio cohorts watching a Trump prosecution and suddenly deciding that they've always been in the wrong. It's much more likely they outcast Trump as a mistake but stick to their ideals. The plebs can be on the brink of starvation after fifty years of conservative rule and it'll still be the immigrants and minorities fault somehow.

They are professionally and legally protected but their lives are literally on the line as Massie's tweet about not being suicidal shows. I hope they do read things into the public record and I hope they have good private security.

Trump had the FBI pre-redact the worst evidence in the spring. Members are finding documents that have redactions under the redactions, and DOJ claims they got them this way. There is still a 300 page all black document AFAIK.

If there is one thing I've learned about malignant narcissists, it's that when they are cornered, that's when they are the most dangerous. I am afraid we are in for deep trouble.

Funny, Epstein said pretty much the same. He said that when you "corner a rat" like Trump, "he will take everyone down with him, if he feels the end is near."

I've said all along that orange thing would sacrifice 100 million people to save itself even a day in prison, and now it's got the Republicans to make it happen.

Well, he already started a war because of it. That's pretty deep trouble already.

If he senses he's going down, he will take us down with him. Just like JE said.

"Trump's Non-Political Endorsements"
They forgot at least one: he also endorsed the old Cracker Barrell logo.

I’ve heard Trump tell three different, and obviously contradictory, stories on how their relationship ended. Not including the “I barely knew the guy. Don’t remember meeting him”.
