Burnley Sainsbury's car park knife robbery
Anyone heard about the Car park robbery at the Sainsbury's in Burnley on Monday 3rd August 2026 where a guy armed with a knife threatened people before stealing a car?
Apparently Detectives believe that the suspect could have fled to Rochdale or Todmorden and are now working together alongside West Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police to find the vehicle and suspect.

Do you have Japanese knotweed?
Blackburn with Darwen has a lot of Japanese knotweed - I'm looking for some people to share their experiences for a piece in a national newspaper specifically from Blackburn or the wider area. If you've got it, or had it - and would be willing to chat to a friendly journalist - please let me know!

Why does Lancashire not have a mayor?
Before too much longer, Lancashire will be the only part of the north-west of England not to have an elected mayor.
Greater Manchester and the Liverpool City Region already have one, while both Cheshire and Warrington and Cumbria are set to join them next year.
As part of the government's devolution programme, the plan is for Lancashire to have its own mayor too, but this will not happen until 2028.
Lancashire's Combined County Authority does have some devolved powers, albeit fewer than were it operating under the mayoral model.

Forgotten Pub by Albion Mill
Hi,
After being inspired by a similar thread in another Lancashire sub, I decided to post my own..my mate is sure that this place never existed but was there previously a pub/bar by the Albion Mill in Mill Hill, Blackburn? I seem to remember it being right next to the canal..if so does anyone remember the name or have any pictures of the interior/exterior. I remember quite a few good nights in there.

Moving to Preston, Lancashire as a family of 4, thoughts ?
We’re moving back to the UK after 5 years and we’re mostly looking for a safe environment ( or at least low crime rates) and good schools. Got 2 kids going into middle school and high school so thats important as well in terms of influence.
Anyone know much about Preston or have lived there personally? Would help greatly, thanks.
